Just shows how limited your knowledge is regarding Div 3. There are some clubs that have very generous sponsors who are only too willing to assist local footy.
Its all about giving blokes a game of football irrespective of whether they are young guys or players who have passed their prime. Its just great to be able to go to the footy on a saturday and watch a game irrespective of the standard.

Yeah lets go back to the situation of 200 point wins to top div 2 teams vs the bottom sides. Three divisions is working in that the last two premiers have stayed up in Div 2 and that the games are closer in divisions 2 and 3 compared to when it was all one division, which I'm sure was the purpose of doing it in the first place.

The improvement can be seen in the top teams of Division 2 also. By playing better teams regularly, the premier is more prepared with the jump to Divison 1, also evidenced by the competetiveness of promoted teams to Div 1 in the last 3 years, since the divisons were split.

As an ex div 3 supporter, it was always good to watch the local div 3 sides have a game, see some of the oldies drop down a division or two, show their experience and teach some of the young lads, which would give their side a lift, but div 3 were rarely supported in the local papers, rarely seen in the results under the nfl section in the herald/sun, and probably only once or twice were heard on the local radio side.

Any news of the ins and outs of Watsonia?
From the In's side, alot of former players from their finals side a few years ago have returned to the club aswell as the new coach from Heathmont who will also be playing. And as al_fc said the big omission would be Buckley to the Mustangs.

Had another club out Wallen way chasing him but he has stuck fat to the Saints as far as I know. Was stiff not to make the Division 3 ruck spot last year.

New coach is bringing alot of mates down with it who apparently can play. It's make or break for them this year.

Div 3 should be very liverly this year if the number of ins for each club is any thing to go on
west Hield 13 in
Panton H 26 in
Parkside 20 in
Res 6 in
St Marys 9 seniors and 18 possable under 19's
Thomo 18 in
Wats 24 in
and there is still some time for a few more ins

did any teams have practice games on the weekend and if so how did they go?

Heard that Panton Hill were beaten by Eltham College, 5 goals or so. One Panton Hill supporter told me that although they have recruited well on paper, he fears some are there for the div 3 attitude and not the div 1/2 playing experience/skill they were recruited for. Hope not, cos they are a good club and it would be great for there supporters and loyal players for some ultimate success!

Both teams missing 3-4 players from best 22 but was a good hit out first up. We (Eltham College) play Reservoir this Saturday at Reservoir. Looking forward to testing ourselves against them.

Was a good hit out for the first praccy match....

Not sure bout the turtles but PH had out:

Haydock
Kreymborg
Parker
Box
Lowther
Bryce
Zac Williams
Amore
Parkinson

All will slot into the starting 18 I think.

Pretty laughable Panton Hill getting rolled by a Amateur Team. They are spending a lot of $$$$$ to get beaten by a bunch of blokes playing for the love of the sport.
