Big call I know, but I've never seen a forward line that is so efficient. There have been forward lines with better names such as Dermie and Dunstall with Matthews at the end of his career or the Dons in 2000 who had Lloyd, Lucas, Mercuri, Caracella etc; but I can't remember them being as efficient.

They have been smashed for clearances at stages and over complete games in the last two weeks, yet managed to win both times - all because of forward-line efficiency. Roughy is in superb form, but it's not marking power that's doing the job - but that their talls are so mobile, who are surrounded by elite smalls like Breust (with Rioli still to come back).

Roughy - 36 goals, 12 behinds
Buddy - 33 goals, 25 behinds
Breust - 23 goals, 14 behinds
Gunston - 20 goals, 4 behinds

Everyone lived happily ever after when a hawks fan decided to make this exact same thread last season in GF week 2012
I won't be complaining if this thread has the same effect. ;) Against a defense featuring Glass and McKenzie they scored almost every time they went forward for large stretches of last night. Frightening.

Fremantle will beat them imo. They're not half as talented but their gameplan is almost perfect to counter the styles of the Sydney and Hawthorn. Ross Lyon is either a very unoriginal man or a complete genius I am not sure yet.

Hawks outscored Eagles in the 2nd term only & its frightening,, you must frighten easily ...

Definitely not, absolutely ridiculous call to say it's the best ever.

But it's easily the best in the competition at the moment, and Luke Breust is about as underrated as they come. Absolute jet.

The Essendon forward line of 2000-2001 was better then the Hawks current forward line. My Uncle who is an Essendon supporter took me to Essendon games during the early 2000's and I must say, that Essendon forward line of Lloyd, Lucas, Hird, Mercuri, Caracella etc was as good a forward line as I've seen Live. :)

As for the Hawks forward line, without a doubt it's the best in league at the moment.

I was thinking the same myself, they hardly ever miss and look dangerous with every I50.

As for the best fwd line of all time, Dunstal-Dermie etc were better with the game style they played in 80s, this current Hawks group wouldn't be as effective playing that game style, but the 80s group wouldn't be as good as this current group playing their current game style.

Fact is the current Hawks forward line may very well have the winner and runner up in the Coleman, and they did that (or came very close to it) in 08, i can't think of another team in history who's had the top 2 in the Coleman in the one year.
