This was the first year we didnt for xmas (first year with a child too so we were focused on that).

I ended up calling her from a bookstore and checking if she wanted a book shed been talking about for ages while i was getting one for myself. I suspect Christmas will be the same from here out. Bday, Anniversary and Mothers/Fathers day i suspect we will do presents, half the time now we know what the other person got as we share accounts etc.

Birthdays, mother's Day and Christmas. Mother's Day shits me as it's a few weeks after her birthday.

They all shit me tbh. She is really picky so can't buy clothes or anything that she will be fussy about. The kids are useless at coming up with ideas (10 and 11 years old)

Plus we don't really need anything most of the time. To me it's a waste of money to spend $200-300 at Christmas on each other for shit we don't need.

She always says NO I don't want anything

This is woman speak for "DAMN YOU BETTER DO SOMETHING OR GET ME SOMETHING"

If you don't pay attention to her subtle hints a nice dinner somrwhere still carries excellent brownie points, especially if you drive so she can have a drink or two
