This series is going downhill quickly for me. First four episodes were all pretty good, 5 & 6 were passable, the last three haven't been great imo.
The Zygon episodes had me excited at first, I think they're an interesting creature, but the double-header fell well short of its potential. In the first part, there were numerous instances of mind-numbingly stupid characters, and the social commentary was as subtle as a brick. The resolution was a bit drawn out too. It wasn't terrible, but I'd certainly say it was 'bad.'
This week's was just god awful... One of the worst of new Who, almost certainly the worst with Capaldi (yes, even worse than Kill The Moon.)
The preview for next week looks alright though. Fingers crossed.

Utterly dull for one thing. No character development of the rescue team; the creatures tried to be terrifying, but they'd have nursed a three-year old to sleep. The story wasn't engaging; something about sleep minimisation, eye dust, a professor and gravity shields? I only just watched it, and I can't fully explain what was meant to be happening. I got that it was meant to be a 'found footage: horror video' that the professor had made, but I can't work out a comprehensive plot within that video that we were meant to be following.
The camerawork was obviously trying to emulate the 'dust footage,' but it was neither realistic, nor was it pleasant to watch. A lot of shots were either jerky, too far out, really dark, or just from really awkward angles. Perhaps I'm being picky, but it caught my attention within the first minute and developing a 45-minute critique of the camerawork was more enthralling than the plot.
No opening theme either which was oddly disconcerting.
