I believe the rumour was that he wasn't impressed with the level of professionalism/on-set antics of a certain member of the cast and how Davies as EP let them get away with it/encouraged it.
I can see Eccleston being someone who's a very serious, intense kinda person on set. So I can see that.

I enjoyed last night's episode once I stopped worrying about the incredible plot holes. It just didn't have a lot to do with Christmas. The special from a couple of years ago did better incorporating Christmas into the episode plot.

Have to say the clip for this years Christmas special is looking very average

Oh, I wish it had been average. That may have been the most dreadful piece of television ever made outside "reality" TV and any sitcom commissioned for Channel Nine.
It almost had a redeeming feature, but that was seriously lost among the shite.

Oddly enough I liked it, but I'm in minority where 12 is my favourite. It was basically the same plot as Smithleens from 9's run though from series 1.

Just finished season four and watched the first two of the five specials. I'm pretty devastated to see the end of the tenth doctor. :(

As long as his final act isn't to regenerate the Doctor as a woman, that's fine.
Haha, have just been re-reading this thread for the first time in ages, and was trying to work out why I couldn't like this post - then I realised its because I wrote it!

So one more season with Capaldi and Moffatt and we will have a new Doctor, and show runner and it certainly needs some refreshing

Peter Capaldi is departing BBC science-fiction series Doctor Who.
The move was announced via the show’s official Twitter account. The show tweeted: “BREAKING NEWS! ‘It (the new series of Doctor Who) will be my last... I feel it’s time to move on.’ - Peter Capaldi”

Steven Moffat has decided that his “timey wimey” as showrunner of Doctor Who has come to an end and he will step down as the show’s lead writer and executive producer after six series at the helm, RadioTimes.com can reveal. Moffatt will hand over the keys to the TARDIS at the end of the next series in 2017 to Broadchurch writer and Doctor Who fan Chris Chibnall.

Yeah, there's all sorts of talk. Even mentions of Olivia Colman from Broadchurch and the Night Manager playing the Doctor. I personally don't see a woman playing the role. It would just be too awkward for a thousand year old being to suddenly become female.

Anyone else get the feeling the new companions voice is going to be very grating?
She somehow managed to come across as quite annoying in a 30 second preview, not great signs.

I liked the 2 guest actors/characters but a pretty average episode.

I don't think they will yet, but the Master and the Timelord General in "Hell Bent" was about preparing us for it.

I would have loved to see Capaldi stick around for a season under the new Showrunner, I hate the jarring jump from Tennant to Smith where essentially the entire cast changes.

Trailer released for the latest series (the last featuring Peter Capaldi as the Doctor):

On the first viewing, I see Missy, the Daleks and the Cybermen (and possibly a Weeping Angel) as returning antagonists to the Doctor.

I'm nowhere near up to that yet. Still haven't worked up the courage to watch The End of Time and say goodbye to ten.

Don't blame you, I've seen 11 incarnations of the Doctor (12 if you count the 3 or 4 stories I've seen of The Second Doctor) and The Tenth Doctor is still my favourite.

Have finally read all the pages. Have watched Doctor Who for quite a while and enjoyed the different perspective that has been brought by each actor. Some terrible episodes and some gold.

The Capaldi years started with much hope but that died very quickly.

That's my theory as to why Peter Capaldi is there at Gallifrey. I reckon soon after he regenerates, he'll go back to the "scene of the crime", so to speak, in order to watch where Gallifrey went. He arrives too early and so participates in the process, and watches on further
This disappointed me the most in the Capaldi years. They set up Trenzalore, they set up Gallifrey, they set up the picture.

Then went off fighting vomiting T-Rexs.

My Top 11 from 2005-2017 not in any order but will highlight my personal favourite.

Christopher Ecclestone
Fathers Day
The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances

David Tennant
School Reunion
Love and Monsters
Human Nature
Blink
Utopia
Midnight
The Waters of Mars*

Matt Smith
The Pandorica Opens*

Peter Capaldi
Heaven Sent*

I could have had a few more Matt Smiths but Tennant stood out for me.

The Waters of Mars was an ok story until the end then it ramped up to a brilliant ending that made the rest of the story better.

The Pandorica Opens is a great introduction to the silliness that is Matt Smith. And I use silliness in a kind good way.

But Heaven Sent is the episode that redeems Peter Capaldi for me. Just an amazing story that uses the same scenes over and over again and hides that fact.
