lol, just because it's something you've invented in your fanboy mind doesn't mean it exists. It's disappointing he hasn't returned but FFS without him doing very well in the revival role initially the show currently wouldn't even still be alive today.

Hell iirc the greatest Doctor Tom Baker didn't even return to the show until about 12 years after he left which pretty much ruined the 5 Doctors 20th anniversary, but I can understand and respect the reasons the man gave for not coming back for it.
He didn't return until last year. His role in The Five Doctors was footage from an unaired story. He's since said he regrets not doing it properly.

The same as Eccleston, it was poor form for him to refuse the five Doctors. He made the right call with DOTD
Then that shows how rubbish that opinion is. They're actors. It's a role. It's a TV show. It's not real. Would we like them to treat it as the most significant thing of all time and come back when needed? Of course. But sometimes they won't want to. And that's fine.

Tom Baker gave that show several years of his life. He is respsonsible for it being as big as it is today. Without him it never makes it in America. And him deciding not to do one episode is "poor form"? Fanboys need to get over themselves.

Pretty sure he had done audio stuff for the show in the 90s and he was definitely in the Dimensions in Time charity special in 1993. The reason why he wasn't in the 5 Doctors I heard was that he felt it was too soon after he had left the show which he still missed.

Without the 'fanboys' then the show doesn't happen at all.

There are plenty of actors who would make fantastic Doctors and be happy to come back when asked.
Without Tom Baker and Christopher Eccleston there's no fanboys.

So... we agree that him not returning ruined the five Doctors...

...he has said that he regrets that decision...

...but when I also state that it was a bad decision.....**** me?
He can regret it personally, but for outsiders to have a go at him about it is ludicrous. He gave that show much, much more than enough.

Thought he was brilliant, but there was just something about Tennant for me.
He's a little overrated for mine, they made him too hipster and prone to getting all hypo and almost overacting at times. His 'angry' is also a bit dodgy. Although rematching his episodes (or ones I missed) I'm enjoying his Doctor a lot more with bloody Billie Piper gone, Martha is so much better.
Not saying that he's crap or anything though, overall he did a pretty good job and happy he played the part.

It's going to be interesting having a rather more senior Doctor again, Smith was ok but would've been much better if he was few years older imo.
I disagree. Smith was a much older Doctor than most who had come before. Even though he had a young body, he was so very clearly an old man.

Agree with comments about the last 2 doctors being too female assistant dominated. I could not stomach Rose and the romantic angle. Pathetic! Of the current series I rank Eccleston as a clear number one. He had some machismo about him. Matt Smith 2, and a distant last is Tennant 3. (the justin beiber of doctors). None of them would carry Tom Baker's bags. Hoping this new mature doctor may restore it closer to its former classic glory. Favourite companion is a toss up between Sarah Jane and LEELA (SAVAGE!)

Yep the romantic thing with the NS is the absolute worst.. Rose also shits me no end.

Totally agree with Sarah Jane and Leela, great characters played by 2 very good actresses. Baker although after a rocky start got along fine with L.Jameson but unfortunately had a fair dislike for her actual character, especially towards the end of their time it imo came out on-screen at times.

Matt Smith is awesome.

Matt Smith may have left Doctor Who but that hasn’t stopped him from making a heartwarming gesture for an ill fan.

Matt recorded a personalised video message for four-year-old Jack Robinson, who has an inoperable brain tumour.

The young boy’s father said: “Jack had gone to sleep, but we woke him up to show him the message. His eyes just lit up and he was so delighted. It has made his day.”
