I'd not be upset either way
3 games forward is not a fair chance for someone we already know isn't lightning fast.
It's about consistently being able to do the right thing, stick to plan beat his man.

Don't forget Jack was the lowlight reel getting run down with no pressure in the goal sq f-ing about and won a Coleman the next year (or was it 2yrs?)

So I don't mind if we give him another year as a fwd / emergency back
Strong mark, adds defensive tall fwd

Conversely, he is no stranger to the lowlights reel, and cracked it several times in 1 game v Freo, and we have talent to develop in this spot...

I'm 51% in favor of another year.

(full disclosure, I am a bit sentimental, and I'd happily maintain a list still containing Polly, Cogs, Chaf, Thursty, Sarge,RICHO, Mitch...

He gets pushed out to easily. Can't hold his ground at all. Would have the highest centre of gravity going around with those little skinny legs. Built like a wingman not a marking player. He would be wrapped he got so many AFL games. Cheer him off and bring on the next.

Dear God I hope not.
Laughable player. If our club is to move forward and progress into the top 4/8 we cannot have these types of players on our senior list.
Maybe re-rookie. Even then just a maybe

Any Mcguane love after tonights game?

He's done enough in the forward line to stay on our list for another year and only be played if any of our forwards go down.

No Miller next year. We need a big body in case Vickery, Griffiths, or Astbury either get injured (surely not:rolleyes:), or fail to come on (Oh, sorry, I forgot they are all guaranteed superstars).

The salary cap means you can't afford a team of AA superstars at every position - you need handy backup.

He was better than Hurley last night.

Definately mature age rookie at best for next year but he must only be allowed to play The Bulldogs , Port , Brisbane , Essendon , Melbourne and the expansion teams. That should be written into his contract.

The funny thing about Luke is that he is one of the bravest players on our list , always has been but just doesn't have the skills to match and does the old undisciplined act like last weeks head high after the freo player had kicked the ball.

I think with the retirements and the delistings of Miller , Moore , McDonald and Connors he just might scrape through for another year and I'm quite happy for him to stay if the club backs him. I have met his family and they are awesome people so I can understand Jack going into bat for him. He's had a fair crack at it and another year playing only forward at Coburg could see different results in the future. He's played down back since 2005 and it has only been 6 games up forward with a few in the reserves.

We have bugger all depth and have had a dream run with injury so under the right set up he could be a handy player for next year especially for Coburg.

Then again on last weeks replays alone you could understand the club making a call on him. Those 2 goals would have been very handy in a grinding game where the lead most of the day was roughly 14-22 points.

Score board pressure is what its about.

I thought he had a 'good' night last night, and would be very handy for depth. If he only comes in when Vickery needs resting or is injured, and allowed to play forward for the burgers to develop, then he's worth another year for sure. Who else have we got ready to go?

Its all about list management . The fact that Derickx has made no impact whatsoever in 2 seasons , the fact that Miller was dropped and his role handed to Mc Guane. The fact that Mc Guane has made a much better fist of it than miller .. the odds are in his favour

Can we Arse three talls in Miller , Derickx and Mc Guane in one hit ???? Graham is gone before Mc Guane too as well dont forget ... so thats 4 talls .

I reckon he gets another year as a depth player ... no brainer for mine . If only for his experience and at the very least you are going to get an effort .

Earlier in the thread I said he had to go but based on what he has done since coming back I would be ok with him staying on in a depth role. The question is would Luke be happy with knowing that he'll spend most of the year in the magoos or would he rather go elsewhere with a chance of more senior footy.

Cloke.

McGuane and Posty have played themselves into a new contract.

Lets face it, even if we get Vickery and Grimes back from injury, and we add Chaplin and maybe even Cloke, we still need depth. McGuane has kicked what 12ish goals and apart from the two comical errors last week in the square he has kicked pretty straight, had taken some decent contested grabs and hee tackles and chases hard. His defensive pressure acts up forward have been underrated.
Post's hands have been great down back he just needs to tidy up his disposal and awareness.

Next year a best case scenario is we land Cloke and Chaplin , Post and McGuane are then true depth players who can come in due to injury or form. Worst chase if we don't land cloke in particular, Jack, Vickery, McGuane and Astbury become our main key forwards.

Wil depend upon the free agents for me. McD, Connors, Webberley and Moore give us our four draft picks assuming we only want to go as deep as third round, graham and Derickx our spots for Chaplin and Knights. We want another draft pick, psd pick, white and McGuane will be in the gun unless we trade for picks

Not to mention, if the club was playing McGuane to bump trade value up, they wouldn't be playing him up forward. The teams that would only be interested are those who are looking for a key back.

Post and McGuane on form are well below the likes of Graham, Browne, Webberly, Derrickx, Maric, Miller/Moore/Connors already gone.
