Why?
Because it’s obvious what the similarities are. Both have 2 arms and 2 legs.

Why?
Great, but why close the thread? If there's nothing left to talk about then people will stop talking in it. If you don't want to read it anymore just stop reading it.Because it’s obvious what the similarities are. Both have 2 arms and 2 legs.
Excellent comparision! The similarities that I have noticed are.
Both were first round draft picks.
Both were drafted from Victorian TAC Cup teams.
Both are Premiership players.
Both will be remembered as being bald by the time they retire from AFL.
Both are speedy and highly skilled players.
However.
One was a starting 22 from his first AFL match onwards.
One was an elite midfielder from day one.
One was a high possession winner.
One was a game changer.
One was the competitions best at his craft.
One was judged his teams best player in a grand final.
The other has had a slow and an inauspicious start to his career.
The other was his teams worst player in a grand final.
The other shows a lot of promise and requires patience.
The other needs to find his own football.
The other is a HFF who is slowly learning the nuances of midfield play.
The other is in his infancy as an AFL player.
At this stage of their respective playing careers one doesn't belong in the same sentence as the other.
But given time it would be nice to think that both could belong in the same sentence..... But that time is not now or in the foreseeable future.
Realistically I would just be happy if the other one becomes a consistent player that averages 15 + possessions per game.
Both have serious hurt factor ..................... but one demonstrated it much more often than the other in his early years at the Club.
Didn't realise he was that tall, doesn't look the same height as Judd (or 1cm shy)Jaysus his fanbois are really overcompensating at this point. We all want him to be a gun.
I suppose they are of similar height and both Victorian. Honestly, he's more similar to Shuey.
Didn't realise he was that tall, doesn't look the same height as Judd (or 1cm shy)
Judd was so explosive, I like the Shuey comparison and not just because of his look...If he ends up as good as Shuey - You beauty!!!
A lot of campaigners are doing thisYou will cop flack for this thread because many posters will think that you are meaning that you think that Venables will be as good as Judd, but I agree with you in the sense that they have similarities and Venners does move like Judd at times.
Venables will be a gun in his own right though.
I've been watching quite a lot of Chris Judd highlights recently (probably too much), and I just keep thinking how there are very few players that are similar to him. That 04-07 period was fantastic, and I haven't seen anyone emulate that since, which is fair enough, really. Peak Judd was up there with the best of the best, and that sort of form only happens once in a lifetime. But I still crave it, and so, that brings me to Venables.
I watched Venners pretty closely this season, and I just kept seeing flashes of Judd whenever he picked up the ball - small, but very much there. The way he twisted and turned, gave the ball off, kicked off both feet seamlessly. I didn't want to get my hopes up too high at first, but after watching Judd highlights obsessively, I just can't shake the feeling.
Could Venables be a similar player to Judd, once he puts it all together? I highly doubt what we've seen this year of Venables is anything close to his best; injury has been a massive problem for him for the past 4 years, and he's probably quite a ways back from where his peers are.
How good could he be?
At best not good enough to lace Judds boot.
To date has done nothing at WAFL or AFL level
Aside from maybe setting new record for lack of touches , tackles by a Premiership winner

He's 19 you clown.
I like Venebles goal sense, he positions himself really well when he is stationed in the forward line even if he does miss a few set shots
I also like his defensive pressure
That said, at the moment he simply isn't getting anywhere enough of the ball to influence the contest a lot. I think a fair target for him next year would to try to average about 15 possessions per game. It's a good target for his development
Likely already been brought up, but go back and re-watch the *PF. Not sure lost a ground-ball contest in 1 on 1s or even 1 on 2s. He would win possession with a shimmy, spin or fend-off, then use it well. Won some beautiful clearances, too.
He was vital, this year. Along with Ryan, Rioli, Yeo in the guts, Nic and Darling's form, they helped to re-energise the squad.
Still better than being in a side that set a record GF losing margin
Time for a rethink before you post againI’m straying off topic but at least you guys aren’t as inept as port
