To all those ... many of you ... who have made a habit of bagging Doughty on here I would like to know what you thought of his game tonight?

From all reports he had a game high 6 hard ball gets. I thought he was absolutely crucial in the last half and he definitely got right under the skin of some of Port's star onballers early on ... go the DOGGA!

Can anyone recall why that free-kick for Duggity was reversed? The one in the final quarter where he trapped Stewart holding the ball?

I thought he had a descent game up until that point, but almost lost the plot after that incident, when Port went straight the other way to score that crucial goal.

Played well. Particularly liked it when he stood up to Chad Cornes on the boundary line.

Was often found at the bottom of packs doing the 1%'s.

Was a pity that free got reversed after a great chase and tackle, his only blemish on the night.

He was great. So many times I was like 'whose that...DOUGHTY??'.

He was tough as nails and did alot of good things, really impressed by him tonight. Hope he keeps up the form.

According to the umpire he gave hime one. I assume a little rib tickler.

May come under investigation during the week. The Rooch will surely highlight it.

Re: Doughty: We were all wrong!

Ha ha ... u WERE all wrong ... I didn't see a Doughty thread so I just posted one myself. I reckon he will get a plethora of Club Champion votes from this game. I never lost faith in Dogga! :)

That was very nearly the turning point that lost us the match ... I was too busy jumping and and down and woohooing over the "BAAAALL!!!" free then I turn around and the free was reversed ... nearly had kittens but I don't have mutant female feline genes so that was averted.

Re: Doughty: We were all wrong!

Agreed.
I was harsh on Doughty early in his career (wasn't attacking the contest at all, and didn't do enough otherwise to justify this flaw), but that was several years back, and I've happily admitted, and praised, his improvement over the last 4 or so seasons. He is a VERY important part of our side, and plays with genuine toughness. Great game, Dogga.

He was one of the players that stood up for us when the game was on the line.......:thumbsu::thumbsu: Great game from a player that has been around for a while and as a senior player really needs to do that sort of thing.
I now respect him...

I have only ever bagged Michael Doughty if he tries to play as an attacking midfielder without showing any accountability to the defensive side of the game. He cannot do that because he does not have the skill level to be an influencing factor.

Last week and once again to night he showed a shit load more desire to limit his offensive game and concentrate on a negating role. He is being played as a tagging option and is accountable for a major ball winner; I have no trouble if he doesn’t touch it. As long as his direct opponent has little to no influence either.

Great game by Dogga tonight as he played his role. That’s all we can ask.

Exactly KingsCrow - Tough. As. Nails.

Has done the tough things all season so far. Craig singled him out last week, and should again. Great stuff.

Doh... 5 minutes too late.
Well, you know... I'm prone to a bit of exaggeration when this much adrenaline is flowing.

Dogga will be a 10 year player for the club!

lol. if you can't get the adrenaline going after that, when can you? :)

Dogga's played 120+ and can't be far away from being a 10 year player.
