Keep your head up 3NP. I'd rather a person have a go at thinking outside the box than the same cookie cutter responses we get on here sometimes.
It is also I guess why I can't agree with your assessment of Bailey Williams, in him I see a player who thinks outside the box. I see him waiting for the perfect pass and trying to use his core to stand up in tackles, both aren't quite working out yet but he's young and still not quite strong enough in the core or experienced enough in the mind. I'd keep playing him though because I want to fast track the latter.
The funny thing is, I don't necessarily disagree with people saying that Williams is a player who might show poise and have patience as a player. I was just making the initial point that it's quite a bit of spin to use this as the main takeaway from a player who got caught holding the ball three times.

And yet from 19 uncontested possessions Bailey Williams ended up with 7 turnovers and was one of the higher clanger players on the ground.

He looks like a decent kick of the football, and I agree, he should be taking the game on and being confident in his own abilities, but posters should be allowed to call a spade a spade and say his decision-making and legspeed is currently quite slow for the AFL.
Decent is underselling his footskills significantly.
Also and conversely posters should be allowed to not perceive it as slow or necessarily a bad thing.

Of course. People can perceive it however they like. It's not like the speed of decision making isn't going to improve aswell.

Those are the two most obvious weaknesses in his game right now though. In my opinion.

But nobody has argued otherwise? I might have missed those posts.

I think the issue is that I thought it was a bit strange that people were saying "it's actually a good thing that he got caught holding the ball" when if it was phrased as "it isn't so bad as others getting caught holding the ball for what it represents". People were phrasing it as the former which I found a little strange, if it was phrased (and justified) with the latter I'd have no issue.

Fronkalicious just said that his footskills and his extra time taken to make a decision meant that he might not be a "turnover merchant like some other bulldogs". I was just making the point that his slow decision making and getting caught holding it actually lead to him being a turnover merchant on the weekend.

I thought it was implied that he meant "eventually". Don't think anyone has said he's there already.

Too much unseemly attacking each other in here. We are getting more Richmond like every day. Time to close the thread.

This thread? Thought it was just a spirited debate apart from from contributions from two posters one of which was uncharacteristic (Snake is usually better than that). Rather we just ignore the poor actors.

What I liked about the game was the terrific marking. They were running to the ball nicely. It proves the boys can do it and now they just have to prove it playing a better team. The new player Young is very good and Picken was amazing. Redpath keeps getting better. I am hoping that all will finally come together and we make the finals. Sorry for Dale Morris (he is a legend), and hope he recovers well. Looking forward to the next match. May the force be with us. Sick of the commentators mentioning about fatigue after every quarter and I notice that in most games they always seem to favour the other team, and not the Bulldogs. Doesn't matter. Go the Doggies.

Watched it again.

Wallis was superb. His best is bloody good.

Think Mitch is closing in on his best again right now. Very important to us.

Went to the game, the flicker is getting bigger, the run and ball movement is improving. Picko back to his best, JJ getting there and thought Biggs was very good. In fact the whole backline is getting mean and cohesive again.

Cordy is starting to look like a footballer and McLean and Dale continue to develop.

Walked out the ground with a smile, nice to see us put a side away again, have failed to do that all season. Need to reduce our turnovers, disposal skills still nowhere near good enough for us to seriously challenge this year but Premiership defence is not over yet. Bombers game is huge.

We are still hanging around, could be fun if we fall into 7th again.
