^ Heavy.

Warney cricket was so awesome. Had about 50 stadiums, classic matches, classic commentary, a ton of cameras, a weather system, licensed players (Pushpakumara steaming in), beach cricket...

Seriously, if they just update the graphics and the teams on this piece of gold I'll be whistling dixie

I just had a look at PlanetCricket. That place is scary right now. Its like a warzone.

If the game doesn't reach their incredibly high standards I shudder to think of the fallout. And lets face it; the game isn't going to reach those standards given games like NBA 2K14 get caned on the forums.

The animations look the same, if not worse than other cricket games that have been produced. I still don't understand the hype.

How the hell did you come to that conclusion? Some of them looked kind of awkward but they were generally very good for the most part.

Eyes been tested recently?

I do agree about the bobbleheads though.

Look at DBC 14 and the likes of Cricket 2007 side by side. Im still not convinced that the animations in DBC 14 have come that far. Well, for batting anyway. Graphics yes (as you would expect - we're in the year 2013) but animations, no.

I reckon I’ve looked at every single video that’s come out about the game – nothing has convinced me from what Ive seen that it’s gonna to set the world on fire. There is no solid evidence yet that the talk is going to be walked.

My mate had a look at a couple of the vids without any idea about the hype and talk behind it and laughed cos he's seen it all before. Batsman running into fielders, dodgy cartoonish animations, crazy false names...its not something that builds a lot of confidence.

But thankfully Big Ant have kept hope alive that the gameplay will surpass everything to make it a briliant game, and its that start of something for future iterations. If it wasn’t for Big Ant being so interactive with the public then Im pretty sure the average gamer would think it’s a case of same shit different stink.

Yeah I showed a friend the trailer and he was far from convinced based on the animations. But when I explained the innovative batting and bowling controls, and then about the Cricket Academy he quickly came around.

It is going to be interesting to see how people respond to there not being a marker on the pitch and analogue bowling controls. That is a huge game in cricket gaming and is a game changer.

Everyone who played the game at the playsession seems to have really enjoyed it. That is a good sign

No marker on the pitch is a must. At least gives the bowler a chance.

If I was judging a game on teaser videos, I would be buying the Ashes one.
They had a cool teaser video even though it showed absolutely nothing of the game.

The hype around this game isn't the graphics, animations etc.
Its the gameplay.

If the gameplay lives up to the hype the graphics etc wont matter one bit.

I would also be happy for Shane Warne cricket with just updated graphics and a few minor ai tweaks to fix the bowling exploits.
Fix the bowling exploits and runout bug and it would be almost perfect.

Most that have actually played it say its a fairly good effort gameplay wise. Different, fun, and a reasonable recreation of cricket. People expecting
FIFA/nba2k/madden will be disappointed, people expecting the best cricket game since shane warne will probably be happy.
Lets face it, if when playing the game these little "quirks" in animations and head wobbling are noticeable enough to ruin your experience then the gameplay is not much chop.
If its fun and a good representation of cricket then there's very little chance these things are gonna bother you. Hell, i dont really notice that all the players in madden appear to be wearing ice skates.
Plus there's always the fact that you should never judge a game from its trailer. The EB play test vids are enough to convince me this game is OK. And that is all im expecting, a fun, "OK" cricket game...

In one of the play session vids, saw a lovely flick off the pads which was Ricky Ponting esque. In recent games that type of shot was played weirdly and looked very comical. I think the spinners actions look really good, I don't think every animation I've seen looks exactly perfect, but there's a lot to like about it from what I have seen. The customisation aspect of it looks terrific too, gotta get behind BigAnt, this could be a really good base to work on for future games to come.

If you go to planetcricket you'll see there's already 1000's of people barred up and salivating to do just that...

just like AFL live was a good base to work from?

Bradman Cricket was due to be self-published and a publisher only came on board last minute when they saw how good it was. The future of Bradman Cricket does not depend on Tru Blu's actions, whereas the AFL Live series did and those idiots at Tru Blu got cheap and gave the sequel to Wicked Witch.

AFL Live 1 + management and/or career mode + 1/2 years of gameplay improvements would have been superb, and much better than AFL Live 2 made by Wicked Witch.

Unfortunately Big Ant were not given the opportunity.

so how is the next AFL game coming along?

What exactly is your point? TruBlu went the cheap and nasty option of porting a Wii game to get a game out for a quick cash grab. We all know that. What does that have to do with DBC?

Unlike the AFL license, BigAnt owns the license to DBC, and thus has complete control over it.

My point was afl live was shit but a lot of excuses were thrown around and graces given because it was a good base to work from.

Ok tru blu are stupid yada yada but that base seems to no longer be a base and instead we are just left with another shitty afl game

Now the same excuses and graces are being thrown around for the cricket game.

Call me a sceptic but labeling something a good base especially when looking at past track records doesn't fill me with confidence

Good on bigant for having a go and for also engaging the community but that doesn't mean their games are or will be any good.

Looks pretty shitty to me. Hopefully I'm wrong.

The base is no longer a base because Tru Blu took the licence away from Big Ant.

Why are you blaming the latter for that, and why on earth do you think it's going to be the same here?

You have quite literally acknowledged what Tru Blu did, and then ignored it for sake of your argument.

OMG you just said that

You should probably lay low for a little while....

For the first game in a certain genre you've got every right to be skeptical. I'm not expecting a perfect game. I know there'll be bugs and annoyances, that's just gaming.

Having a go at BigAnt's track record is pretty harsh. Their Rugby games are going from strength to strength (so i've read, never played them honestly), and when they did have AFL they put out multiple free patches (purely to address gamers' concerns, like online custom teams, shot blocking, etc) and a a paid update DLC. They have a good record of supporting their releases. And the big difference this time around in they're in charge of everything. There's no AFL/NRL to tell them they can't do this or that, and TruBlu isn't in charge of the license so there's no chance of seeing DBC15 made by Wicked Witch.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to get away from people saying "It's their first cricket game, it's a good base to work from," because it's the truth. But in terms of this Vs AFLL, it's already leaps and bounds ahead when you look at the customisation and massive career mode.

None of us will know how good it is until we play it. I think we've got every right to be bullish about it, but can understand (especially in the cricket world) why people would be skeptical of it.
