Yeah, this is definitely the best cricket game since Shane Warne '99.

Batting's a challenge, for one. On my career mode save I'm a #8 legspin bowling allrounder. Average about 13-14 with the bat. Only issue I've got is that I've found it's just as easy and risk free to ground attack every ball as it is to defend it. I don't even bother using the triggers at the back anymore anyway, just the left and right analog and it works for me. Feel like I've gotta premeditate each ball though.

Bowling's pretty simple though. Have about 120 wickets @ 5 or something ludicrous including a 10/12 in an innings. Wish I could raise the bowling difficulty without making batting too hard.

34 not out. Highest score so far. Was leading us to victory (5 runs away) until my last 3 tailenders decided to throw their wickets away within 6-7 balls. Bastards.

In Career Mode, in one innings in 6 overs I got 8 for 12. Easily the best figures I have ever got. I got 11 wickets for that match - I could have got more but I wasn't brought on to bowl until late in the first innings. I still never got man of the match. That went to someone who scored over 150. I think 11 wickets for 13 runs is better than 150+ with the bat.

How hard is it to earn man of the match?

I'm bowling teams out singlehandedly and still haven't gotten it once. No batsman have hit many runs either.

Well I have got man of the match when I get maybe 12+ wickets. Could be 11 once, I can't remember. I think your team winning can help too. If you score some runs with the bat that can help, although I don't score too many :p.

Right, things I don't like so far:

- No urgency when cancelling a run. Wander around once you find the crease, not before. Keeps costing me plenty as I forget to hit the R2 or I hit it too late.

- Cannot see the field behind the bowler when at the non strikers end in career mode. How am I expected to call for a run if I can't see the field. On second thoughts, why am I calling? It's the strikers call.

- Some goober put himself into the NSW side as a #3 bat (S. Hampton) for the download best sides.

Everything else is good. Hopefully the patch can sort these minor issues out.

Okay i've spent a few hours in career mode this morning as a bat, having only bowled a few overs. First impressions:

- Wow it's absolutely brutal :) The learning curve is an absolute cliff. A lot of the time you stuff up and get out. Sometimes you do nothing wrong and get miraculously caught and bowled. It feels like real cricket in that sense.

- I totally agree with some of the issues people have raised in this thread. Bowlers are brick walls and are basically impossible to drive past. The railgun armed fielders combined with the lack of bat sliding means ridiculous runouts happen all the time. Even a minimap showing where the fielders are and where the ball has gone would help immensely here.

- The player creation has the best face moulding tools I have ever seen in a videogame. It even smashes the WWE games out of the park. Usually with this sort of thing, regardless of how deep the creation is, every face has a similar look to it. Not in this game. You can make anyone dead on. I really wish I could export my career mode character to a general created player some how, because it is the spitting image of me, it's amazing.

- Obviously graphics take a back seat to gameplay, but it looks gorgeous. It looks and feels like cricket when you are playing.

- The stick based batting is the best thing that has ever happened to a cricket video game. It will make the game endlessly replayable. Brilliant.

For me at the start when I hit 'Get Best Teams' it only worked for the Australian State, BBL and the larger international teams. The County, IPL and smaller international teams still had the fake players. Anyone else had this problem?

Have played a game between Yorkshire and Gloucestershire and the names were all fine, can't speak for IPL/international though.

No, although you can re-download by going into the Academy, then there's something like Manage Teams and at the bottom "Replace All Teams"

Would love a mini-radar to see where the field is, and where the ball is travelling, when you're non-striker.. So many runouts.

Also I appealed for an lbw, reviewed it because it was plumb, they didn't bother going to haweye or anything, they just replayed it over and over in slowmotion. Darnit!!!

Change the running camera to broadcast. Best thing I've done.

Really enjoying the game so far. My biggest complaint would also have to be that the bowling is too easy unless I were to raise the difficulty and get out for ducks all the time. (I already get out for ducks enough as it is!)

To be fair, my best figures aren't anything ludicrous, just 6-82 and 6-78 or something along those lines, but that's too much as a batting all-rounder. I probably get used as a bowler too much too.

Still loving the game though.

Is there anyway to make the commentators say the actual names? Commentary is so lifeless. All I hear is 'the batsmen' and 'the bowler'...
