Dons players could launch legal action to end investigation

Goes against the oft spouted notion that EFC did not co-operate, does it not?
Or is it more that figures such as Dank, Reid et al did not assist?

Not really, because it was Essendon that told us they got the Gold Stars, not ASADA themselves.

I think it is highly likely that the players were all well coached before they went into ASADA.

so it's all back to how long it's taking.
If ASADA think there is cheating, then they have a job to do.
If there was cheating, who is to blame, ASADA?
The length of this investigation is because of what and how the EFC did.
I said months ago the leaks were to fight the process, and guess what?

"It is also understood no player will accept guilt over any charges, which rules out any “no fault, no negligence’’ deals"

Seriously nuts this means there can be no pleading down to a zero penalty. Whose advising these players Little himself? Its so obvious that he is just trying to protect the club. It will be interesting will the solidarity hold once the show causes hit.

Does he understand that there are players subject to the doping regime outside EFC that can and will throw them under the bus to plead down to a zero penalty.

Your point about those that are no longer at the club that 'maybe involved' is a very good one... Little etc seem to be forgetting that there are people outside of the club now that are caught up in this...
Proves how insular their thinking is!! EFC to the core...no consideration for the AFL community at all!

Yep, there's no real doubt about the spin Essendon have played on this. They have done nothing but obfuscate and spin half truths from the get go. '"I've never spoken to a New York doctor" (to discuss a testosterone cream that is undetectable) became, 'Hird's evidence is understood to include an admission he spoke with a New York-based pharmacist '. 'That drug wasn't from Mexico, it was from New Mexico' became, 'actually it was from Mexico, but we know it's safe, even though we don't know what it is'.

Then there's the whole AOD debacle. At first they deny using it. Then they say they had permission to use it. THEN they said they were able to use it because of a loophole if they used a compounding pharmacist and then when that was shut down, they went back to denying using it. Since then they've had a constant attack on AOD - making it the almost the entire focus (keeping everyone's mind off possible S2 banned substances). They've also instigated a sustained attack on ASADA and called them incompetent - which is perhaps the most ironic thing of all. Now they are saying they want this over with, but are threatening ASADA with a long, drawn out legal battle. Truly spectacular bullshit of the highest order.

Haha unlikely, but the reaction on here would be priceless
Lance as a reasoned member of EFC how do you feel about more of the clubs funding what looks to be a hail mary type lawsuit?

And was there a specific release you wanted me to read?

'ASADA provides interim report to AFL' - direct quote from Andruska re cooperation

Maybe it's just me, but the fact players and the club had a meeting this week to discuss their strategies if show cause notices are issued seems like bigger news than kite-flying over a brief mention of the option of legal action over the joint enquiry. Odd choice of headline.

'ASADA provides interim report to AFL' - direct quote from Andruska re cooperation

“As a result of the cooperation provided by the AFL and Essendon, the ASADA investigation has made considerable progress." August 2013. Please note she doesn't say whether that cooperation is good bad or indifferent. Just that they'd made progress. ;)

What ASADA comes up with and what will hold up in court are a couple of different things.

As long as the EFC and its supporters understand that the constant denigration, bullying, threatening of ASADA - "your charges will face legal action", "we'll see you in court" - is only going to make ASADA take longer to be more sure of any actions holding up against legal challenges. And don't hypocritically whinge that the process is taking too long.

It's not exactly the praise that Essendon told the media ASADA was heaping on Hird and the players, is it? (Which was where this discussion kicked off again?)

ASADA barracking 101 ;)
