I think a key point is his work previously (and agree it has been amazing) has focused on events that are 20+ years in the past, meaning those being accused of wrongdoing are dead, or retired, and not actively involved in the roles they were in at the time. That makes it easier to tell a story and stray into advocacy.

This is a little bit different - he is telling people's stories that involve horrific and career-ending allegations against active coaches. There was always going to be push back and scrutiny and he isn't doing himself or the accusers any favours by going on the attack before a full process has been carried out.
A big difference is that he has created trauma for families with his article. Clarkson, Fagan, Burt and their families would be experiencing some pretty strong trauma of their own. The article attempted to ruin their lives and their careers.

Maybe it all turns out to be true and he was justified with the article. But if it isn't true, and he didn't even bother to confirm the details, then that is horrible thing to do to people.

Yep I agree 100%

This journo has done some amazing work in the past. He was wrong on Sonja but makes an excellent point here. Time will tell whether he drifted too far into ‘advocate’ in the story.

I actually agree with this. It's just that he's done his advocating so horribly, horribly poorly, that he's diminished his journalism greatly, and actually made things harder for those he claims to advocate for.

He’s crossed the line. You can’t take anything he says as objective re this story. He’s immersed himself in the lives of the accusers.

It's different for him in this case as there is an impeding investigation.

This is where I'm at.

How people somehow relate Clarko signing (Dr Hood supportive) to racism is a great example of why the Courts (which will happen) are backlogged 6 to 12 months.

You think asking one side of a story is "journalism"?

I don't know what happened a decade ago or unnamed footballers etc, I do know its an absolute disgrace on basic principles of Law.

I just think he's too emotionally attached at this point in time. It's clouding his judgement and he's making poor decisions.
Well maybe but I personally think he's well out of his depth hence his vitriol towards folks simply trying to point out a very basic mistake. Using personal abuse as a comeback to logic is normally a pretty good sign of incompetence.
