Because we’re trained from a young age how to go about trekking through Australian nature. Or at least it was the norm when I was growing up.We don't exactly have an epidemic of school trekkings in Australia...

Kinda the point for mine ie. DQST can't reasonably be classified as a 'dangerous pastime' (well I'm sure the usual suspects would classify it as such but you know what I mean).Fair enough it’s a dangerous pastime but so is trekking in the outback.

So do you think we should be trained about diversity from a young age?
My son's Catholic school has had some recent new enrolments, apparently the (government) school they have come from are teaching about LGBT+ stuff, pronouns etc, didn't impress some parents evidently.
I don’t know how diverse guns are but I think having some training in the use of them and the dangers they pose is best if you’re going to have regular access to, or be using them frequently. So do you think we should be trained about diversity from a young age?
Some of it's on the curriculum, they'll be getting it anyway. My son's Catholic school has had some recent new enrolments, apparently the (government) school they have come from are teaching about LGBT+ stuff, pronouns etc, didn't impress some parents evidently.

Victorian curriculum. It isn't really a case of 'this is against my religion so I won't teach it', it's a case of 'if you want funding or to be listed as an educational institution at all, this is what you're agreeing to teach.'In Catholic schools? I should probably know this of course, I mean a lot of it would be incongruent with Catholic teachings I guess, would be a hard one to navigate. They do a sexuality night (call it something different to that) but it's run by a third party, good way to stay out of I guess.

Well 70% of the school's revenue is government funding so it makes sense I guess, it puts Catholic schools in a quandary though I'd say.
Maybe the Catholics should try and assimilate.
Is the government gonna tell Islamic scholars or Muslim schoolteachers to host DQST for their children or teach about LGBT+ stuff, pronouns etc because it’s in the curriculum?Tell me, do you always ask Mohammed bin Salman for advice on what to teach your children?
Was that what the post you quoted suggested? Is the government gonna tell Islamic scholars or Muslim schoolteachers to host DQST for their children...?
This is a silly question.... or teach about LGBT+ stuff, pronouns etc because it’s in the curriculum?
Tell me, do you always ask Mohammed bin Salman for advice on what to teach your children?
I’m just wondering if it’s an across the board decision or if encroaching on the Islamic religion is off limits. Was that what the post you quoted suggested?
Will be interested to see what Muslim schools and parents say about this. This is a silly question.
If it's in the curriculum, they have to teach it.
If you're here to look for hypocrisy, you're probably going to find it. Everyone's hypocritical in different ways.I’m just wondering if it’s an across the board decision or if encroaching on the Islamic religion is off limits.
I don't teach at one, so couldn't tell you. Will be interested to see what Muslim schools and parents say about this.
Do you think this should be forced to be taught in Islamic schools? If you're here to look for hypocrisy, you're probably going to find it. Everyone's hypocritical in different ways.
You could also take the opinion of others as you find it, as opposed to trying to deepen the ideological divide. Just a thought.
I’m still interested to see how it goes.I don't teach at one, so couldn't tell you.
I think inclusion should absolutely be taught as a value within all schools. Do you not think so?Do you think this should be forced to be taught in Islamic schools?
You'll have to ask someone who does, then.I’m still interested to see how it goes.
Absolutely but do you think forcing it upon a religion that is strictly and vehemently opposed to it is the right thing?I think inclusion should absolutely be taught as a value within all schools. Do you not think so?
We're probably in the wrong thread.Absolutely but do you think forcing it upon a religion that is strictly and vehemently opposed to it is the right thing?

Honest question coming from a long-lapsed Catholic for the_interloper. How actually Catholic are you? Would there be stuff in the State Curriculum that might give the Catholic in you the heebie jeebies?Maybe everyone else should!
