Season 23 Rnd 10 Coney Islands Warrior v Dragons FFC at Van Cortland Park

Round 10 saw the Dragons coming off a convincing victory hoping to take that form into the next round, travelling to Van Ciortland park to take on the Warriors. The first quarter was a relatively even affair with the Warriors leading at the break. The sides traded blows in the second with the Warriors continuing to hold the lead over the travelling side. The Warriors managuing to kick awayagain in the 3rd before the Dragons struck back to be within striking distance in the final. However it wasn;t too be as the Warriors held the momentum in the final, holding on too win by 78-53. Club legend LJP86 kicking 3 majors to lead the tally for the day while Hate tallying up the most possessions for the day with 25 of his own.

So the eagle eyed of you may have noticed a change in formatting and language style... that'd be because Hatchy1992 helped write as few reports...

and there's a reason for that too... but first...

Well it’s been a busy off season. The leadership group for Season 24 has been finalised. With @DennisClarkeM vanishing, there was a vacancy for an up and coming Dragon.

After an amazing debut season, we would like to announce Blaze Storm has been elevated into the LG.

Congrats mate.

BUT… that’s not all.

Over the past 6 weeks or so, it’s become evident that life has a tendency to be a pain in the arse and get in the way of what’s important (qooty and drinking). This can be evidenced by the delay in this B and F. It became apparent that I needed assistance in the day to day running of the Dragons. After much thought about required experience, the time commitments and general enthusiasm for the Dragons, I contacted Hatchy1992 and asked him to become my co-captain, which, to my delight, he agreed to. This is a significant step forward in ensuring the Dragons remain the envy of the SFA.

OKOK acceptance speech, let me think about this for a second.

I won this award not on the back of being a great poster, but being the least-shit poster. Or the most shit-poster... One of the two. Or both.

Thanks to this award, I solemnly swear that I will return next year with even more inanity, insanity and unsanitary posting habits that will further yield global condemnation.

I will endeavour to write worse media threads than those who panned my previous media threads could ever comprehend (which is pretty easy in the case of BRAB).

I will work hard to find the most efficient way to fill gameday threads with not just spammy pictures of redheads (Rednesday), but also of MILFs (Mumday), Awesome sportscars (Cruiseday) & Cute cats (Purrsday). I will have themed gif-days so plentiful, they will hang thick enough in the air to blot out the sun.

Season 23 Dragons FFC Best and Fairest Presentation

Welcome one and all to the Dragons S23 Best and Fairest LIVE from Uncle Knifey’s Family Feedbag!

The red carpet was, yet again, full of surprises as most of our team turned up clothed.

A successful, yet ultimately unfulfilling S23 provided many highs, lows and ridiculous gingers.

Another Preliminary Final exit soured what had promised to be "our year"

Medal favourites WFL Hate and cammo6556 all enjoyed overall positive seasons, but were punctuated with the typical ups and downs that a random sim is bound to deliver.

Star rookie Blaze Storm took the league by the balls, whilst second year players VSTone and Scorpus both enjoyed strong showings.

Star recruits Hatchy1992, @dennisclarkem and Knifey Spoony all had varying degrees of success, with only Hatchy finding consistency by seasons end.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the Hate inspired cocktail “Kim Jong”.

After coming across from the Wolves at the beginning of the season I feel i've slotted in with the squad so easily, although it made it easier having my good mate and also wolves teamate Knifey Spoony with me. The squad made me feel right at home and i've loved every minute of my time at the Dragons. I felt like the move to the Dragons would reignite my career, and I wasn't wrong.

When I got the PM from Cammo about joining him as a co-captain I was initially shocked. It wasn't something I ever invisaged when I made the move. Nonetheless, it was an easy decision to have the honor of captaining this great club. Since my time in the league, the Dragons have always been the envy of the league, and this is A very proud moment in my SFA career. I look forward to assisting cammo6556 in taking our club to where we belong. The premiership holders.

Thanks for the opportunity everyone. I will not let you down.

Rd 11 vs Demons - The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants????

With the bar at Croc Drunkees closed for fumigation (I’m really sorry - send me the bill), Dragons arrived at the ground PRIOR to the first bounce this round, making for a nice change, and the scoreboard reflected the punctuality, with the Dragons flying out to an early lead.


Uncomfortable with these foreign feelings, we let the Demons back in the game to the point where it became another heart stopper. Skipper cammo6556 tried to steal some glory, kicking the last goal of the game to see the Dragons eek out a very familiar 3 point win.


Stats-wise, a very pleasing team performance with VSTone, A Swallow, Hate, @ WFL and @Knifey all amongst the tope ball winners. Hatchy1992 and iBeng snagged 3 a piece, but will Cammo’s heroics and willingness to rig the voting see him snag a BOG?

Rd 12 vs East Side Hawks - Bio Dome

The movie title has zero relation to the game anymore. I’m really not even trying in that regard. Which leads me to the game. Pretty shitty effort all round really. The Hawks got out early and we never got close. iBeng, WFL and Ljp86 had opportunities but failed to make in impact. Hatchy1992 was serviceable kicking three. Knifey Spoony and WFL were the only real positives to take from the clash, dominating around the ground, but they had little assistance. Outgoing Fuhrer The Filth Wizard brought his own ball (and lube) and did as he wished in the Hawks easy victory.

Rd 13 Vs Baghdad Bombers - Rush Hour

This movie title has some vague link to the match-up. Stay with me here.

Somehow, the Bombers have become this bunch of decent, affable posters. They’re a more-likeable sidekick than Chris Tucker in Rush Hour… but we are definitely Jackie Chan.

Like the movies, we did most of the arse-kicking, but gave the Bombers (Tucker) some decent highlights, that was always going to end in a finale.

I’m not sure if the final goal kicker was an evil businessman but that’d be fairly apt for one side at least.

Onto the stats… It looks a little like binary code, and this time it wasn’t contained within @iBeng’s stat line.

Only WFL and Hate seem certain vote getters here. @DennisClarkeM aka Judas was serviceable, too whilst Ljp86 and iBeng snagged a couple.

Rd 14 - King Ralph (starring John Goodman)

Ahhh the Royals. Irrelevant in real-life, but not in this hilarious depiction of a fat bum-turned King.

I like to think that the title character, played by the aforementioned John Goodman, is all the Royals posters.

Anyway, due to some kind of special decree, we were to be kind to the muppets and allow them within cooee of us this week.

As a result, Nakia was permitted to run around by himself and he very nearly provided and accidental victory for the visitors, spraying the final shot of the game to seal the fate of the Royals. We all know Royals are typically shit at sport. Except Princess Anne, or Margaret. Whichever was the Olympian.

Votes almost take care of themselves if you look at the stats solely, but the intelligentsia of the LG are quite adept at appreciating the 1%ers of SFA.

So if I was any of the statistically dominant Hate, WFL, Hatchy1992, Knifey Spoony or A Swallow, I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

The Dragons Hall of Fame

​

The leadership group and I would like to announce the formation of the Dragons Hall of Fame. Reserved only for the very best servants of this mighty club, this serves as the ultimate honour a Dragon can have bestowed upon them.


After literally only a handful of PMs it was evident that there wasn’t any real discussion to be had about who needed to be inducted into the Hall of Fame this season.


Ladies, Gentlemen and Assorted in betweens, I present to you our first Dragons Hall of Fame member, Ljp86


Any debate about this fella being inducted must surely be in jest. He’d be first inducted even if on field performances weren’t counted. However, over the course of his 305 games, dual Mobbs Medallist, dual Frankston Rover medallist Ljp has put together a resume that puts him amongst the elite of the SFA elite. And it doesn’t stop there. Countless hours of sacrifice and contribution for the Dragons and wider league provide an invaluable cog in the SFA machine. Long term captain of the Dragons, quadruple B and F winner and 6 -time All-SFA representative, the man has done it all.


Please join me in congratulating Ljp86!


Oh but that’s not all…


This next inductee has recently made a re-appearance in the league after several seasons off. A hugely respected poster, person and opponent, this bloke has amassed 244 games, 227 goals and was our post-merger captain. He is the Dragons all-time leading Goalkicker and has recently made a much-vaunted switch to defence. An absolute legend of the club and a pleasure to have him back, please join me in congratulating….
