I was always adamant that Pavlich actually said "It's Morphin' time", in reference to the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Which fits the theme of put on your superman cape, morph into your stronger form, we have work to do. Also works with the demographic of players at the time who would have grown up with Power Rangers.

Who the heck says "it's wharfie time" out of the blue? "It's Morphin' time" is a direct quote from the show.

But the power rangers don't wear capes either?

Also I'm pretty sure Pav has done interviews alluding to the incident that didn't involve admitting it that actually; he said Morphin'.

The Wharfy Time thing at the game was very cool and unexpected. Has it happened before?
Rather odd mixing of metaphors in Pav’s original quote, but I am glad it has now entered Freo folklore and lingo

I swear I saw Pav say in an interview that 'Warfie Time' around the time was an actual thing inside the club. I.e. it's not made up off the cuff. It's long enough ago though that the interview, if it actually happened, won't be online.
well it seemed to work for the crowd. got them all fired up

Pav said it in a pre game captains rev up speech. Pretty sure it was being filmed at the time and then after the game a lot of the media said "that was really stupid"

I reckon he might have written it in his book? I do have similar vague memories of it

So. Conspiracy time.

Thinking that the game was done, and wanting to send a message to Collingwood about the time wasting, the umpires decided to punish “the next one” that would hurt them.

Fully expecting the pies to then just close out the game.

Nek minnit

Umpiring is hard enough as it is without trying to orchestrate some sort of conspiracy.

As has been well documented now there's some serious evidence they were getting frustrated with Collingwood (thanks Steele) and it was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I would have been furious if the free kick was the other way, let's not tiptoe around that.
But in hindsight it's more understandable.
