Hey Eagle fans,

I know there has been a fair bit of discussion on Masten already, but do you guys see him securely locked into your best 21? By that I mean avoiding the green and red vest? Has worsfold said anything to support he is in their best team?
He has had a full pre-season and been a magnet in games so far, so if he is in your best team, he'll be an awesome cash cow and can probably average 85-100 but the question is will he avoid the vests!!?? cheers.

I reckon Masten's ability to be a starting 21 will be up to his own form.

By that i mean the coaches will give him every chance to play full games, he's a high draft pick, massive prospect and I can't see him being held back.

However, if he does drop off, he might be used as a sub.

Hey guys I have a couple of questions... Just wondering whether you his think waters can recapture his form from 2010??? I understand last year he was restricted by injury but has he had a good preseason and is he going to continue being that receiver on the half back line?? Also, do you guys think koby Stevens has a chance of securing a permanent position in your side this year? Kind regards, SSH

Does Worsfold even like Masten?

Masten has been in your best 3 players during every pre season game and I haven't heard Worsfold mention his name once???
I really want to pick him but I'd like some word on his job security this year.

Not anything against Masten, woosha tends to pick players on form and we have a decent amount of Competition for his spot.

I'm more concerned of him playing out of position, that's what hurts him ther most.

Hey guys, hope this hasn't been asked before, but how is Butler looking this year? Noticed he averaged 84 from 10 games, and seems set with job security. Issues seem to be injury proneness. Could be a good unique in a good bye week for back men. potentially

I've been searching for a round 11 premium defender - very hard to come by. Waters is an option but risky, could go just with Hargrave from the WB but he's not guarantee of getting 90 a week.

Regarding Masten, I'd say he is a risk of being subbed on/off this season, unless we get injuries or he elevates his game above players like Rosa, Priddis and Gaff.

Butler will play every game if he is fit - just such a terrible record with injuries I'd go Waters ahead of him.

Adcock from the Lions may be as close as you'll get.

Was cox subbed off last night? Didn't see him at all after half time.

Yeah - he had played every round so far - so a half game was all he was going to get.

He also spent most of the half forward as well, only spending very spare minutes in the ruck - given NN's late start into the pre-season the main rucking minutes were assigned to him

I too have Masten but from these reports it looks like you guys dont rate him that high. Do you think his price will increase through out the start of the season?

Others may disagree, but I see Masten being a regular best 22 selection this season. He's every chance to be used as a sub though.

At least you can guess a sub from those on the bench. Getting subbed off can be a risk for nearly any player in the comp, except those who we know will perform week in week out. Its a double wammy for DT/SC because not only does your player have a bad game, it then becomes 3/4 of a bad game.
Last year Leigh Montagna was subbed off after a poor 3/4s.

Not always the case though.

I'm more wary of coaches subbing off stars during the third quarter of a game against GWS or GC. We didn't see too much of it last year, but with Geelong having success resting blokes from entire games, I wouldn't be surprised to see stars rested in blowouts.

Agreed. You can try to second guess it all, but in the end there's a whole new element of luck.

for people wanting info on masten for DT,
he has been cottonballed for a few years now.

never really had a proper uninterrupted season until this year and he has a few pre-seasons under his belt.

he is a top 3 draft pick and woosha will be wanting to unleash him now,
he isnt a kid anymore and if the medico's say he's good to go,
he'll be playing big minutes this year, he is an endurance player.

masten had injuries early last year so him being subbed off lots last year was west coast's way of building his workload.

he's a safe bet for best 22 and weekly output IMO

With most top clubs talking of resting players throughout the season, is it likely that Waters will be rested a few times due to his terrible injury history?

I don't think he'll be rested personally. He might be, but his injuries have been elbow/shoulder, not knee or hamstring, so if it helps, I'm picking him :)

I'm not 100% sold on Weedon being a consistent member of the team. He'll get games but IMO will be in and out of the 22 and it wouldn't surprise me if he was used as a sub quite often.

I reckon Hill is a lock to play 22 games if fit with no sub time and I reckon Hams will get more burn than Weedon.
