Dreamteam and Supercoach questions 2013

It's this time of year that everybody wants to know who's making a run for being A-Grade, who'll be bidding for more time in the middle and who's going to set themselves firmly in the sides best 22. All Opposition supporters please ask all your questions in here and one of our "experts" will tell you how to go.

A query for our experts, I haven't paid too much attention this pre-season, what can we expect from Melksham this year? He's one of the mid-priced players I like the look of.

Wonder what price TBell will be(?), with more game time and experience, could he have a breakout year?
He's 412k in DT, not sure about SC. Averaged 80 last year, could def make the jump to be a 90 ave guy imo but prob not worth taking a punt on given Leuenberger is massive value at 233k and then you can pair him with a proven premium ruck. Could be a nice unique high variance pick that pays off tho.

Seriously considering Bellchambers - the article on the Bombers' website sounds promising for him from a JS-point of view - hope he can improve his around-the-ground work, tackling and play 20-ish games, perhaps pushing him to 85ppg in DT.

What role could Ryder play? CHB/CHF?
With Goddard in will Heppell be given midfield time or will he be stuck in defence? Could upgrade to him later if he shows good form.
Daniher injury concerns still lingering?
Van Unen or O'Brien to be regulars?
Dempsey smokie to average 85 in DT?

Appreciate if you could reply!

What role could Ryder play? CHB/CHF? Probably forward/ruck IMO
With Goddard in will Heppell be given midfield time or will he be stuck in defence? Could upgrade to him later if he shows good form. Heppell will rotate through the midfield a bit, but Hird has mentioned he is happy with Heppell in defense (not sure where I heard this, it was on here somewhere)
Daniher injury concerns still lingering? Not as far as I know, though I'd steer clear anyway. First year KPP's are a big no-no
Van Unen or O'Brien to be regulars? Van Unen could be a regular. I'd assume that he was recruited for a reason. You dont recruit a mature age bloke as backup.
Dempsey smokie to average 85 in DT? I've always though every year would be Dempsey's break out year. I will probably let my bias take over and find room for him somewhere. He would be a decent pick if he stays on the park.

Appreciate if you could reply!

My thoughts:
1. Bellchambers looks set to have a very good year but there may be better options. The guy has got game but hasn't shown just yet that he has the fortitude to play well for a whole season. Last 2 seasons, he'd play well for 1-2 games before having a "down" game, sometimes against guys he should be spanking. With so many trades, expect Cox and Sandilands to be very popular.
2. Ryder will play fwd/ruck but I expect him to be eased into the season. Hasn't had an ideal pre-season.
3. Dempsey is definitely a smokey to average 85-90 and one I have on my watchlist. He'll no doubt cop less attention this year with Goddard in the team and Heppell's continued improvement.

Goddard is a lock every season and will be again for me this season. I'll take Jobe and maybe Zaharakis as well.

Howlett a smoky? Gets a lot of points through tackles, could easily average 80 this season as the 4th mid.

Tempted to grab one of Pears or Hibberd.

Tayte is finally having a injury free preseason, is flying and been told his role this year is just to "run, run, run". Sounds promising as I get the feel he may be more attacking, leaving the KPD roles to Carlisle and Hooker.

While Hibbo as we all know was one of the chosen "Colorado 10". Is fit, sees himself as an attacking HBF with stints through the middle.

Definitely interesting to watch through the Nab cup!

Thoughts on the best place to start for dreamteam/supercoach? This is the first year I'm actually doing it properly and keen to start on the right foot.

Also does the essendon board have a league?

Thanks!

anyone looking at pig as a 4th/5th defender?

was looking really good last year until that hammie, and could be in line for more midfield time
nah, I have BJ, Birchall, Watts, T McKenzie, Bock and Pittard as my 6.

running with goddard, hartlett, birchall, pearce, hibberd and terlich as my backline atm

reckon he could be a decent unique, but might have to downgrade him to fund a midfield upgrade

have you got Bock forward?

don't have bock at all. He's dirt cheap yes, but will probably play a bit forward which will hurt his scores imo
huh, that's why I have him. I think he's going to score heaps up forward

I though I read Bock has only just started doing skill drills. Would be a slow starter to the season IMO. Though Pig could have a good season, I still dont think he will be that DT relevant. He would have to average at least 80 IMO to be a good D5 pick at his price, which is a 15 odd rise in his average from last year. Though he didnt play all season, 13 games is a fair representation of what his output would have been had he played all season

I currently have Terlich and Docherty as D 5 & 6, but a lot will depend on the NAB cup obviously. I'm hoping Goodes comes off the rookie list.
