With the fantasy season around the corner, I thought it would be good to have a thread dedicated to the Richmond players for interested fantasy players.

For me,

Brett Deledio if a back is a lock, and if not, depending on his price, I might consider as a midfielder due to his consistency.

Nick Vlastuin is a lock in defence or on bench as a rookie.

Trent Cotchin is a maybe - it depends on bye rounds for me.

Dustin Martin will be cheap, and likely to be a forward, so I will probably give him another chance.

Noteworthy players:

Ivan in the ruck is a pretty safe choice, but I personally think there will be better.
Chris Knights might get a lot of game time and could be the bargain of the season as would Petterd.
Conca will be in a few teams if he is a backman.

Opposition fans are welcome here, if you have any questions, just ask.

Best of luck to all of you in creating your teams!

Vickery would be worth watching in the preseason for a role change and for form. His injury should see him heavily discounted already. Watch the NAB and see if he's spending more time in the ruck, combined with his usually accurate set shots. My hope would be that he's a FWD/RUC and as such will be a nice combination with Ryder, Cox and Natanui to give you a lot of flexibility around those positions.

Matty Arnot could come into consideration at some stage as well. Physically ready second year inside mid, who should start on base price and will likely be given a run at some point. Only problem here is he's unlikely to have great job security, with Lonergan, Helbig and Conca all vying for similar time in the midfield.

Chris Knights. I personally won't, barring extraordinary pre season form, but if he gets his body right and he's still got some of that 2009/2010 left in the legs then he could be the forward line bargain that Dangerfield was last year.

Cotchin. The way he finished last year he will be fully priced to start the season so it's just a matter of whether you think he'll be among the elite 8 fantasy midfielders. With 30 trades this year most peoples teams will be very similar come the end of the season, I think the advantages will be in selecting the right guns and having them most of the season. Concerns on Cotchin are his relative youth and recent captaincy appointment. Mostly it falls to personal preference on whether you start with him, but I think most teams will have him by the end of the season.

Cotchin has been my first picked the last 3 years and that wont be changing any time soon.

Lids will be interesting as he's a mid only. Still he's fairly consistent so might slip him in there.

Vlastuin is a back/mid so that'll be handy if he looks like playing. Vickery played too many games to be a cheap as chips option.

Reckon depending on pre-season form I'll take a punt on Dusty again if he's a fwd/mid. Just got a good feeling bout him this year.

Every year I spend so much time on my bloody Supercoach team, convinced I will dominate only to see it unravel before my eyes before the halfway point of the season.

Cotchin will be my first picked. He was 5th in the AFL for total dream team points and 6th for average last year. I got him as a bargain this but I think the bye structure means he'll be popular this year.

I'll strongly consider Deledio even if he's just a mid. 6th for total points in 2012 and 7th for average. I had Pendlebury, Zaharakis, Waters, Hargrave and Scotland going into the byes this year which basically killed me. Need someone who is consistent and likely to play 22 games.

At this stage it looks to be: Cotchin, Deledio, Martin, Vlastuin.

Conca as just a midfielder is dissapointing.

I read somewhere that Lids will only be a mid in Supercoach, personally I think Ill pass on him (first time ever).

Locks
- Cotch - obviously.
- Dusty - as a fwd and is flying this pre-season.

Strong considerations
- Jack - should be better than last year given a full pre-season and less attention with Vickery back and the likes of hopefully Griff and maybe
Edwards etc keeping opposition defenders accountable (hopefully leaving Jack 1v1 more often).
- Knights - if all reports over the pre-season are positive he will be well worth the 4th or 5th spot in your fantasy forward line.
- Rance - scored reasonably well last year with an average of 18 disposals a game while playing full back, would be fair to assume his output
will only increase with Chaplin coming into the side freeing Rance up to be more attacking.
- Lids - super consistant this year and I think it'll be more of the same again next year.
- Tigger - if he is named for round 1 then he will be perfect for one of the last 3 spots in the backline, would think he could be good for
60 - 75pts per game.
- Newman - averaged about 100pts a week 2 years ago from memory, down this year as he was getting a tag with opposition teams realizing
the importance of his disposal from the back half, could be due for a move to a new role this year as the backline is begining to
look pretty full.
- Big Ivan - More of the same here you would like to think but there may be more value elsewhere.

Have I missed anyone?

You'd think Ellis would be cheap if they move him up the ground. Conca might be similar but may not get the same value as Ellis.

Cotchin in mid, Lids down back, Martin up forward. If those 3 are listed as able to play in those positions obviously.

Lids is solely a mid next season.

Lock in Tucky, no one seems to pick him....

yep, only 3 players I will be considering from Richmond are Delidio (Highly unlikely coz I doubt he'd be selected as a back) Cotch & Tuck. Had Maric last yr but I think his price will be too high this yr so my pick of the bunch would be Tucky as the value bet
EDIT; had Morris & Ellis but they were locks at their price & guaranteed game time. With the depth we are building I dont expect Vlas to play every game ala Ellis last yr

Deledio Cotchin and Conca are all mid only Martin is mid/fwd Vlastuin def/mid Knights mid/fwd

I was going to have a sneaky look at concs for my smokey but hes not a defender so there goes that.

Cotchy is locked for me, as is dusty.
Vlastuin at this stage will be there as one of my back rookies
Ivan, Lids chances further on in the year

Good to see there are blokes with interest around here!

What about a discussion of opposition players? A new thread or in here as well?

Also, has anyone mentioned Foley? If he gets through the pre-season, could prove a bargain and wouldn't be in too many teams.

Cotchin = lock
Delideo = lock
I Maric = lock
Martin = lock
Vlaustin = maybe
Reiwoldt = maybe
Vickery = maybe
I will be loading up on midfielders this year and dpp
