Anyone else think Vickery is a good cash up? $244k in DT currently, if he pinch hits, which you would assume, that seems very low.

Hey Guys,

Hope I'm not intruding. Just a quick question re: Martin.

Got burnt badly by him last year - combination of low scores (compared to expectations) and his 2 week suspension. But he is a very attractive price this year for his potential. And he is DPP. Looking at 2011 scores he is certainly capable of averaging at least 90+.

My question is, has he got over his 'off field' issues' so he can reach his onfield potential?? Has Choco Williams really helped him?

Dustin as we know has the potential to rip a game apart, so if he can get it right he could be an elite DT mid/fwd.


Also, should I pick Lids or Cotch?

I'm definitely going to be picking Martin up this year. As for Cotchin or Deledio, it basically boils down to personal choice. Do you think the Cotchin will continue to improve and flourish under the captaincy, or will the pressure drag him down a little? Can Deledio retain his 2012 form?

I've personally gone with Cotchin and Martin from Richmond.

Prompts the inclusion of Byrnes and Varcoe doesn't it? Even some Saints fans think Lee could only get 10 games max.

Rucks are deplorable too.

Not sure about Byrnes or Varcoe. I'm sure this will change 50 times before the season starts.

May I suggest everyone consider Kane Lucas & Yarran. Lucas will get much more game time, Mick has stated numerous times he is an asset to Carlton and his pre-season has been stellar. Lucas suffered under Ratten and no-one knows why, but looking into his scores when he was sub/subbed off he did reasonably well. This is make or break year for Lucas - coming out of contract etc.

Also, Yarran will be moved into midfield this year. He is under-priced due to playing injured last year/being subbed on and off - look for him to get back to his higher 2011 average or even more.


Is Knights purely depth or could he be in the line-up in Round 1? Has a price of around 250K, so as a forward he could prove handy (if he gets a game). Has he had a full preseason??

You'll just have to keep an eye on Knights in the NAB Cup. Not sure what Hardwick's thoughts are.

I found it the easiest year yet personally, Trane.

Forward options are a bit thin, but plenty of ways around it, IMO.

Mind you, late withdrawals, injuries and suspensions saw me cop about 6 donuts in the first three rounds last year...I think I was ranked about 180,000 by then...so I should add that disclaimer to anything I say on this thread.

suspect houli will continue to play the same role he has been David. as for big TV, if he stays fully fit then i would expect his average to push 80-90. i suspect he may do better in SC.

It really is an interesting year this year. You need to minimize how many rookies you are starting as its pretty bare besides the midfield I guess.

2 trades a week means nailing your initial squad becomes imperative so you can utilise your trades to stay ahead of the pack.

Been some talk about Geelong's first pick, Jackson Thurlow who in Dt is 116k. He was a ball magnet for Tassie in the Nationals, pulling 45 possesions against Vic Metro! Seems quite strongly built and has played senior football in Tasmania. Of course, its a big jump to AFL, but keep an eye out for him in the NAB Cup.

George Horlin-Smith has big wraps too....was BOG in the Geelong VFL GF win and there's a lot to like about the kid...another to keep an eye on.

Jordon Murdoch played 7 games last year and is lightning quick with a beautiful left foot on him...if he turns it on in NAB Cup games might be worth a go, but he is in that mid-price range and would be a bit of a punt.

While not a rookie, Varcoe at 234K is a cash cow in waiting!

Around 90. Roughead averaged 91. Vickery is a similar player when in form. Ignore his 2012 form, he could barely raise his arms due to injury.
