Not sure if I'll pick him but I believe Shane Edwards will have a really good SuperCoach year. Last year, he became cleaner by foot and was ranked just outside top 10 in the AFL for assists. He also scored 29 goals. He can definitely improve on this and he'll spend a bit more time in the midfield. Could average 90+

AFL website suggested a defender I hadn't even thought of in Houli.

10. Bachar Houli (Richmond)
Total Number of selections
: 10,132
2012 points average: 79.1
2012 total points: 1,739
2013 price: $407,200
Can he replicate 2012 form? Since shifting club allegiances from Essendon two years ago, Houli has well and truly made his mark at the Tigers. He has played all 44 games, averaging 21.4 disposals in his 22 games in 2012. He has a real knack of finding space, which allows him to usually distribute the ball under minimal pressure. Houli has a good sense for the game and is adept at choosing the right time to sag off his opponent and pull in the intercept mark. A solid fantasy scorer, but needs to spend more time in the midfield if he's going to regularly crack scores of 100.

What would be the maximum number of players you would have from 1 club?

I think the past 2 years, I've normally had about 5 or so Tigers in my teams - the byes have hurt but I plan ahead, might be not too much issue.

Is anyone considering Grigg? Seems to be a great accumulator and will fly under the radar due to the bright lights of Cotchin, Martin, Deledio etc taking the main attention.

Snap. Plus Deledio and possibly the Mullet
I'll consider Deledio later in the year. Maric, too. There are some pretty juicy premium mids at discounted prices this year. Can't look past those, even for Lids. ;)

5 is way over the top. 3 is probably the most I've ever had from one team.

Cheers Sante - that makes it hard. I guess being a Richmond supporter my bias and attention to the happenings at the clubs makes me feel optimistic about the future of many of our players and what they could become.

For example I reckon Ellis and Conca will have breakout years but they might both be (mids only?). I can see Rance, Grimes (if he stays fit) and Morris all improving with another year and the addition of Chaplin down back. Vickery and Griffiths could be something - big guys who can kick, mark and are agile for their size. Martin, Cotchin, Lids, Jack have been staples of my teams in years gone by and I've been thinking of maybe trying Grigg who found a lot of ball in 2012 and possibly Knights if he rotates through the middle.

Decisions, decisions, decisions

Know how it feels ;). Yeah Ellis and Conca are only midfielders and with the structures of our squads this year, most teams will be loading up with the absolute premiums and the final 4 or so spots will go to the cheapest midfielders as there are plenty to choose from.

Grimes and Morris aren't big scorers and Grimes has too many risks. I've never been a fan of choosing KPPs, they are too inconsistent, minus Buddy.

Grigg would be a nice unique pick...nothing wrong with selecting him IMO.

Great job, Danog, though I can't quite work out why you left Tuck out, given his potential for being a unique selection - as opposed to Cotchin and Deledio - and the fact he finished right alongside those two in terms of scoring?
We were only covering 5 or so people for each side. I figured 3 mids of similar scoring potential was a bit excessive.

tomorrow Barry ;)

I love to hear things like 'excessive scoring potential' in a sentence if I'm mistranslating it into grammatically incorrect French.

Not quite as sweet as hearing oui...oui...OUAH!!!!!!! on a thrice daily basis from a wild eyed Parisian girl, however. ;)

Hey guys, can you convince me why Cotchin would be more awesome as my third mid in my SC/DT team than Marc Murphy? And whether we should be expecting Dusty to have any more problems with oversleeping (really disappointing last year SC/DT wise)?

Cheers and good luck this year.

Seriously, Danair? You need convincing of that!

You sure you've seen Cotchin play? ;)

Dusty's training the house down.

Cheers and good luck this year.

And to you. :thumbsu:

Yep, high sub potential for Vlastuin.

Won't be surprised if he can still rack up decent points. I wouldn't have thought 10+ possessions and some of the SC high scoring you'd associate with a good inside mid, over a half of footy would be beyond him. At his price, personally, I'll be looking elsewhere unless he shows more tank than we're anticipating in the NAB.
