What do people think about Sammy Mitchell? Plays in a side many expect to go deep into September and is a clearance king.

Id rather go with someone like M.Murphy at his price range but not the worst option, pre season from has been good and can see him having a slightly better season than 2010.

Peoples thoughts on Lewis Jetta?

I had him for a little while but decided to switch him. He is good, only faults are that he is capable of getting rubbed out at some stage and that his dream team best is probably over. Still a gun though.

Solid pick, and a bit "unique". At that price, I like him more than others such as Stanton, Murphy, Kornes.

Ticks a lot of boxes - should be in a likely Top 4 side (other three are not), excellent pre-season, no byes during DT finals. One "intangible" is that he is no longer the captain, which might be a positive as well for a bloke like him.

Spend the extra $12K and get Cross. This guy is Mr Reliable. Will play 22 and has a great SD. Only downside is if you're also starting with Boyd, you're probably going to have some coverage problems in Rd 4. If a League win is your focus then you only have to worry about Rd 20 (last round of the League H&A).

Ill probably play Goddard in the middle for round 1 so i can use up the quality rookies in the backs. Duigan, Lower, Otten ect. I see them with greater scoring ability than Heppell, Bewick in the mids.

Sam Mitchell in for a career year DT wise. Cyril and Burgoyne (and Hodge when fit) will get the tags so Mitchell will run riot, mark it down.

I agree there are a whole heap of quality rookies in defence...eg: Lower, Otten, Hibberd, Duigan etc....

But i would have to disagree that they have great scoring potential than Bewick as you said.

What makes you think that?

Bewick is more fringe on the cusp of best 21 than the 4 names above IMO with how there respective teams are at the moment.

2/4 players have played AFL before. Duigan scored super impressivily in the NAB and i think Hibberd is about level pegging with Bewick.

Bewick also plays easily for the worst team at of these 5 named.

ummm - no he is not. I'd be more worried about Otten/Hibberd than Bewick in terms of JS. But Otten, Dugian, Hibberd, Lower, Bewick all should play and be Best 21 IMO

While Brisbane may not be a great team, there are plenty of spots open in the mids - he should get one with ease. Best 18 is very possible for Bewick

Foley definitly worth it, but i would argue Swallow can avg the same as him and is alot cheaper.
Not really a comparison with swallow but the 5th-6th midfield rookie.

Probably true that Irons, Pitterd, Liba or someone could average the same - but do they have the job security?

I also personally think that Foley has upside to 85 or even 90 if all goes well. Cant say the same for many rookies.

hey all. i was just hoping i could get some opinions. one spot left to fill- heppell or conca? thanks all.

Rory Sloane is absolutely dominating against Richmond, getting so much of the ball be it inside or outside. he's really tempting me to go with two mid-pricers in midfield.

Yep, Sloane is so mcuh value at that price I had to include him. I've gone with 3 keepers, 2 mid-priced players and a rookie in my starting midfield.

It is a risk starting with two mid-pricers, but if they pay off and score-well then you can really cash in come Gold Coast's second bye (rd 9 and jump on Ablett), Collingwood after round 13 (Swanny, Pendles, Didak) and St.Kilda round 14 (Hayes, Montagna, Dal Santo)

Probably a stupid question but...

Is it worth burning a trade to have Stanton in your team for the first 9 weeks and then trading him to Ablett in Round 10 when Bombers have their first buy?

In theory means you get 9xStanton + 15xAblett instead of say 22xBartel + 2xBench player.

Thoughts?

Interested in peoples thoughts for the 4th midfield spot. I was originally going to get a guy like a.swallow or m.murphy, but now leaning towards foley and usin the cash elsewhere. Imo foley is a lot stronger than most midpricers in the fwd and back lines

I agree

Than again to counteract that, Premium midfielders are well stronger than the back and forward line aswell. This is the only position where it seems you can get some uniqueness from, the backs and forwards each IMO have 4-5 must have premiums and they select themselves well ahead of the rest.
