True. He is risky because of his injury problems but if he is listed as a forward and has a good pre-season then I might be willing to take the risk.

Another impressive thing on Higgins is that his PPD (points per disposal) is 4.31. That means any 30disposal plus games and you'd be looking at 130+ DT.

Something with Higgins aswell that i think should be considered is he will start to attract some heavy tags. Hes a quality mover, smart footballer, extremely good by foot and can kick multiple goals. I think him and Cooney will share the tags this season. A player that could benefit from thi could be Griffen, when will he become a gun?? it could be his year

We say that each year about Griffen but he has to break out one year and 2010 looks like it could finally be his year, but will I be picking him? Doubt it.

So is everyone picking Buddy Franklin in their team for rd1 even though his suspended?

Also What do you guys think of Porplyzia? findind it hard to identify any good lower fwds around the 250k 300k that may do good in 2010. What about Kreuzer?

Forwards: Gray, Lecras,Ziebell,Sidebottom

Much better than the porpize

Yer i think Ziebell is a lock for me...also considering Kreuzer - do you guys think he'll improve maybe in the mid 80s average ?

Not sure about Gray and Lecras though...havn't really seen them play lol

Porps is an interesting prospect, in 08 he was looking really good but when his shoulder started to play up on him he went downhill and his average went down. For memory he would have had an average of about 85ish before it started popping out every week. Also, I believe we did play him for little stunts in the mid which may have been why he had a pretty good average. In 09 he hardly had a pre season and played deeper in the forward line kicking more goals but less possessions and dt points. Currently he is having a good start to the pre season building up his fitness base to spend more time in the middle, he reads the ball very well and he would be a good player for us in the mid. One of his previous coachs thought he played his best football in the middle but he has not had the fitness base to player there for the Crows for a long period of time. If he could get that up for the pre season he could be a very good dter. I think he will be a Unique pick since not many will choice him over some of the others at his price. He is a risky pick though, his shoulder was fine this year but it could get re injured and then he would be in a lot of trouble. Adelaide may also struggle for other players to kick goals other then Tippett and may require him to play deep in the forward line to help out which would reduce his score output. Also, he may have hit as high as his going to average in dt while other first year players will improve may be a better choice.

Footycool has mentioned some other good players at around the same price range who all look to have a lot of potential and seem to be "safer" picks.

I cannot see why Kreuzer cannot improve his average to mid 80's, his been working on the weights from what Carlton supporters have been saying and he is in a bigger shape which will help him take the hits and all from the ruck. He gets involved with the play around the ground which is what you want from a ruck. If he stays as a Ruck i think he could improve on his average to mid 80's hopefully, but if he plays more in the forwardline it will be a different story. Not sure his played many games as a forward and now without Fev he could draw more attention playing there and i am unsure how he would go.

I also don't know a thing about Gray, anyone able to fill us in about what type of player he is?

dylan, you're not suggesting the crows take him out of the forward line. He and Tippett kicked about 100 goals between them and unless you think walker or hentschel will kick 50 goals then it would be a stupid idea to play him in the midfield. I think porplyzia is underated as a forward. he has a habit of kicking 3 or 4 goals in a quarter and turning the game on its head and its important that continues to happen next year. i like the idea of giving him increased midfield time but I cannot see him there pernamently and therefore I doubt his average will increase by that much.

What sort of stunts did he perform? Double shoulder pop with pike?:D

Yeah, its a bit of a Gray area really

I ear marked him as a possible DTmer of the future after seeing him play against the Hawks last year.

Seems to be a smooth moving HF, think Dale Thomas. I reckon he may struggle to get the big scores as he isn't a big cheap possesion getter, which all may change if he plays midfield. I still think he is a Dale Thomas type who will prob go most of his career averaging around 16-20 touches providing an x factor rather than racking up big tackle and marks.

I'm taking him for super coach though.

Ziebell has only played 10 games. Risky selection for 300k?

Im pretty confident in him from watching him last year, he has alot of talent and the roos will be looking to play him midfield alot more, his body is ready and his future is to be a gun midfielder. It does involve a bit of risk, but im confident. S.Higgins similarities.

My thought too Chad. Wasn't he injury prone throughout his junior career? I suppose if he were to put together 10 good games from round 1 he would be an easy upgrade to a fallen premium but surely better/safer value will emerge over pre-season? Not much around at his price point though. Mainly hacks with Hawkins, maybe Grundy , Sidebotom or Jurrah possibilities. Then again maybe VS will make him exclusively a mid and we won't have to worry about it because we'll have a number of options around the same price.

Yeah I have heard he was injury prone as a youngster too. Thing is, I dont see many good, discounted, injury prone forwards this year - and I think you can afford to take a risk on at least one of these types of players per position. If Ziebell can string 8-10 decent games together, he could be an easy upgrade.

Yeah he didnt play many TAC games during 2008, but its hard to know how durable a player is who has just played one year. He did get injured in his 1st year, but due to an unlucky injury resulting in a broken leg. The forwards dont seem to have a whole lot of depth this year compard to others, maybe an indication that players like Ziebell, Sidebottom might be kept in the forwards. Last year we had our forwards penciled in for alot of us (Krak, Lucas, Skippy ect). This year their doesnt seem to be a whole lot, will have to look closer to see what we can find.
