Can we please have a discussion on this concept of "untaggable"??

I've seen it bandied about before - and I don't think much of it. My definition of untaggable is when a team has tried, and failed to tag a player. I still think they would try - Ablett may get it 45 times, but you would surely want to at least make sure he's under pressure when he's disposing of the ball? Plus if you don't tag him he'll just drift forward and kick 5!

I agree I don't see any player in the AFL as untaggable, even if you just make it a bit harder for them, that might be worth it in a close match. Also I don't think you can really call Gibbs untaggable, he's a great player, but if he is untaggable than there are 10 - 20 players in the AFL who are untaggable and that is simply not true.

I just a thought today

Why would you pay 150k for Trengrove when your could expect around the same average from shuey for 94

you wouldn't. but i don't see how it's in any way clear what the two of them will average in the first 7-8 games or how many of those games either of them will play.

you'd pay 150k for Trengove because maybe you think he's a better player with a higher DT ceiling once he gets going and/ or that in a weaker team he might get a longer run of games in the 22.

you'd choose Shuey because he's cheaper and maybe you think he's better prepared for AFL football going into his second year and/ or like you said he might score the same.

or you could have both. or none.

Is there something wrong with Brad Ebert that i'm missing? I've had him in my side before the NAB Cup started, he posted a fairly reasonable score in round 1 and backed it up last week with a 90+ score when his team got smashed. Doesnt need too many touches to put up a big score, lays tackles, takes marks, will never get a tag. Averaged 72 last season, going into his 3rd season, im expecting an increase to 85+ at the very least.

Am i missing something? Honestly?

No your not missing anything, is a solid option.

However I prefer Armitage. He is going to get a lot more TOG and is ready to fill the shoes of Luke Ball. Like Ebert, it doesn't take much for him to get 100. Armitage averaged 9 tackles a game last this season, this is obviously skewed, but if he can average the same as Hayes Montagna, and Nicky Dal (around 6 tackles a game) he only need 20 odd touches and a couple of marks to reach the ton.

Of the mid prices at the moment I would rank them

1. Armitage
2. Swift
3. Ebert
4. Masten

Do you think it's worth putting someone like goodes
or o keefe in the midfield (since there is more depth and chance of your 2 mid rookies playing each week) in case one of your dual
forwards like dangerfield gets injured and you have no forward back ups, all you need to do is sub goodes for dangerfield and then that way u don't cop
a 0 in either possie given your mid reserves play?

or is that a waste of a forward position?

Thoughts?

P.S I probably didn't word that as well as I could have but you get the point

I'm going down this path myself.

Have Goddard (BC) and ROK (CF) in my mids - with defenders Hodge, Kelly and Ladson able to swing through the mids and and forwards Pav, Harvey and Ziebell also able to swing through the mids.

Do I think Goddard/ROK can justify 190-200 points a week in the mids between them early doors? Yes.

Am I happy with the flexibility and donut-avoiding this positioning provides? Yes.

Do I envsage Goddard/ROK finding their way back to back/forwards by season end, thus allowing a Ladson or Ziebell to appreciate and trade up to a mid? Yes.

Am I mad by going down this path when the majority of BF brain-power and doyens of DT seem to be avoiding this like the plague? Probably.

I'd be a little bit concerned with Ebert's spot in the side, at the very least I think he's a fair way down in the midfield pecking order. He's one of those guys who can play both inside and outside pretty well, but isn't outstanding at either.
Kerr, Priddis, Embley, Adam Selwood, Masten and I'd suggest Swift would all be ahead of him. The way the coaches rave about Shuey you'd think he's going to be in there too. He's got all the attributes of a good DT player and if he can stamp his name on the opposite wing to Embley's he'll be the goods but the lack of buzz surrounding him this pre-season in training reports suggests he's not set for a huge year.

Yeah, agreed. He's fairly slow and his disposal / decision making isn't great. I'd say there's a fair few ahead of him in the midfield rotations at the moment.

He could be quite a good pickup, its just that midfield spots are so precious, if he was in any other position I would consider him.
