Where does this shit about us prioritising Caddy and Prestia come from?
Is there any source other than a North supporters wet dream?

The supposed low ball offer was prior to the season even beginning, most would have argued that Dusty was not in the top 5 players in the comp at that point in time
Yet in a bottom eight team in 2016, Dusty came 3rd in the aflca and Brownlow.
I'm pretty sure that puts him in the top five players in the comp.
Either Richmond didn't rate him internally(which your post suggests).
Or the tigers low balled him.
Either way we'll be happy to take him.

Mini dusty disagrees.

Rayner is a long way off where Dusty was at the same age. Rayner projects more like a Stringer given his lack of tank.

Didn't mean to offend shniko11 .

I just find a lot of the posts here incredibly disrespectful. But you're right, often a few can seem to misrepresent the majority.
Cheers mate i appreciate it and I'm not offended at all. Btw i don't think Kelly is a done deal at North either, i have said that in the Kelly thread aswell.

It's the repetitive insults and in here by SOME posters that we have no choice but to bite back.

So, what you are implying is list managers make their decisions on a year to year basis and there is no foresight or forward planning on wage structure or recruitment. So when we targeted Prestia (Caddy wasn't even in the picture till Geelong threw him under the bus in an attempt to get Delidio, but i'm sure you're aware of that) two years ago, we had no thoughts of upcoming contracts to renew or where we would of thought we needed to be when Martins contract come up. So right now, we wouldn't be looking at list management through retirements, blokes up for trade or contract extensions in there next two years (or opposition players). We are just going year to year. Thanks for clearing that up for me. You seem to have a good handle on strategic planning.
With all this in mind, why did the tigers put a low offer in front of Martin in the first place??
I thought he would've been priority compared to the others you mentioned.
Seems a bit strange to leave the bloke hanging like they did..
I guess they thought they could get one over him and sign him up lower then market rate.

Neil Balme explained the why perfectly today. Go to SEN and have a read of his comments. It will answer some questions for you.

Nope we walked up with 1.2m..
The offer went up with increase in the cap.
The percentage of the offer to cap remains similar.

No low ball, no disrespect, just straight up business.
So you low balled him to what you thought he was worth 1.5!! crawl back into your hole

Good to see Neil Blame is on the media offensive, if you make a mistake you should always get on the front foot telling your version of events.

He didn't deny anything and was pretty up front. I thought he responded pretty well. Didn't duck away from any questions.

Been around the media for a long time has Blamey..

Yep, and has been around long enough to know what works at successful clubs including list management and salary structures. So his word carries a bit of weight given his track record. Certainly more than internet super heroes like you and me.

Huh??
Don't shoot the messager because the tigers made a list blunder.

I don't see how there's any blunders? He signed no fuss in 2015 on a better contract. I think the 2013 thing was null and void at that point.

Mate most people on here are trying to discuss this like adults all your contributing is smartarse comments designed to get already riled up Tiger supporters even more pissed. I just hope if and I don't think he will resign with us you don' go missing.

Pfft, nah you'd do alright as a list manager.
Me, on the other hand, i would've blown the cap and only had a list of only 26 players. :p

No-one in their right mind would anticipate an offer of $1.5 mill to any player. This is next level shit we are dealing with. I don't think any club would of planned for something like that. Up to $1 mill - 1.2, yeah, but, this is all in type stuff. As they say in the classics, it's just so crazy, it just might work.

i cant under stand all this talk about the lack of so called tank and endurance of cameron ranyer what i have seen from him this year and even when he was playing under 16s he certanly does not look any differently than 95% of or the draftees this year i think 1 so expert called mentions it and we all take it as gospel

If only we could keep this thread on track hey.

Understand where you are coming from Tigers are going to finish top 4?! and finals round the corner and you guys have to put up with the Dusty situation.

I've said it before I'd be livid if i was in your shoes. Don't care how good the player was,Brown for example i would hope my club doesn't match and if he leaves good luck to him. No player is bigger than the club.(Carey,Boomer) situations were big for me for different reasons. But i backed the club 100pcnt both times if that makes sense.

Who knows how this plays out.

What have you been smoking?

North will not trade for him at that price.

I can't imagine if Richmond matched the offer and Dusty said trade me that North would suddenly get cold feet. No future FA would ever go there again so clearly you are making the offer and if it comes down to it you will trade.

Bullshit because in that scenario he's not coming as a free agent.

I'm not going anywhere, if Dusty resigns, I'll cop my fair whack.

As it sits the tigers are about to play finals and we will probably be dead last..

Well, you're wrong.

You are the club offering the 1.5m if Richmond match he's already indicated he wants to be at North hence a trade will happen.

Richmond won't match.

If Richmond was willing to pay anywhere near the same money, he'd stay. North are only an option because they're offering so much more than Richmond (or any credible club) is willing to pay.

Dusty will be aware that if he goes he'll never be in a successful team (taking such a big slice of the cap ensures north will never have the required depth), but they're offering so much he may well just figure '**** it' and take the money anyway.

Seeing as how he had never been part of a successful team up until this point of his career...he may well just figure '**** it, not much is going to change either way' and take the money anyway.
