SEASON 28 FINALS​

Finals Week 1 :: East Side Hawks 5.3 9.7 13.9 16.11 (107) defeated Sin City Swamprats 2.3 4.5 8.7 11.9 (75)

After a dismal season 27, and an equally dismal start to season 28, the Hawks were back in the finals and looking to reverse the result from two weeks prior against the Swamprats. Early signs were good:

Firestarter had checked out early in anticipation of straight sets:

We'll lose in two weeks and I'll take a holiday to Canada, eh.

Then the match thread was invaded by a couple of idiots and a lot of folks checked out early. But the qooty was good. Biggie had a day out with 21 touches and 10 tackles from the middle, and Drunkgoliath was again solid down back with 22 touches and 8 marks. por_please_ya finally got her kicking boots on with 18 kicks and only 4 handballs, and chimed in with two goals.

If I’m being fair here, a loss to the eventual premiers WAS ABSOLUTE ****ING BULLSHIT THAT WE’VE LOST A THIRD PRELIM IN FOUR SEASONS AND THIS LEAGUE IS SO ****ING RIGGED AND IT’S CLOD'S ****ING FAULT.

NaturalDisaster was OK in a losing side. 16 hitouts, 26 possessions, 6 tackles, 1 behind. Everyone else was woeful especially that turnstyle of a captain.

Round 3 :: Roys FFC 15.8 (98) defeated East Side Hawks 12.5 (77)

League grandfather and resident crazy, Mobbs, took us through a historical journey on what match threads looked like back in the olden days, coupled with some bad jokes:



This was one of those weeks where it felt like we really never got off the ground. The Roys were led by Mobbs and newly minted captain TedDougChris but the followers never seemed to come on, and there’s only so much discussion you can have about tennis ie, none. Still por_please_ya and Biggie made their own fun.

Speaking of, Biggie commenced what would become a season long rampage, giving away 4 free kicks. Milera2Betts was one of our best performers with 14 touches, 7 marks and 2 goals, whilst Harvey Manfrenjensenden had his second successive 5 goal return in a loss.
