It's one of the reasons though, i love Bucks like most of us do, but he needs to make his mark in 2014, most successful coaches show themselves within 3 years.

I agree that the pressure on Bucks will increase next year and that he will be judged accordingly. I do not subscribe to the cult of Hird mentality of the Essendon board. I just believe that we as supporters need to show a little more faith in what he is doing. I believe that he is about to oversee a significant clean out of the club and some of the decisions will be hard to swallow. I am happy for him to do what he deems as necessary for the success of the club.

Bucks will turn out to be a great coach .You cannot turn around culture and game plan in five minutes ? Would look at the assistants maybe some new blood wouldnt go astray. Good thing that EAde is in new position and not a bad thing we will have fitness guru change.Whilst Shaw needs a good talking too he is a great collingwood player so get off his back. Will have about 10 changes to our list (including rookies) would love to get first pick but cant see how we can achieve it.A top line key forward would fit the bill nicely.IN THE MEANTIME GOOOO BUCKS ----YOU HAVE MY FULL SUPPORT!!!

There's enough for everybody! :p

It's almost like you think Buckley did well, next you'll be saying he was brave

We have gone downhill in almost every area possible, we don't chase, we don't work for each other, our wonderful soft margarine spread has turned to frozen butter, our skills have become bottom 4 standard, our kick outs have become predictable and pathetic, teams go coast to coast against us with frightening ease, we get over run consistently and give up, our fwd 50 entries have become like something out of a Mr Bean movie, our decision making is on par with Dumb and Dumber.

But yeah, i need perspective.
Well interestingly I never named anyone but since you concede your need for perspective then I'll accept that you agree with me. Honestly, even supporters from some of our most fierce rivals have been saying what an amazingly bad run we've had with injuries over the last 2 years and yet you can't see it. Our introduction of new blood is only rivalled by startup clubs in that time and yet that somehow can be blamed on the coach. Mate, you don't need perspective, you need eyes.

With hindsight plenty of people on here look back and ask why we got rid of a coach who won a premiership. The plan was made in 2009, we were a severely underachieving team with Malthouse coaching and I doubt anybody here would think otherwise. The team was consistently going deep in finals but over the 10 years before the decision never won a flag.

The Buckley hate on this board generally is appalling. Considering the injuries the team has had over his time as coach he has done a good job to date. The loss to Port was disappointing but it's not his fault that most of our players couldn't hit targets all night. He's not the one out there kicking the ball straight to the opposition. The Malthouse fans should just look back at when he was coaching. After two grand finals in 02/03 we then ended up 13th and 15th the next two years. If we miss finals next year then maybe we should start worrying but this year was a good mini-rebuild similar to Geelong's last year. Nobody was calling for Scott to be sacked even though they dropped off a little bit.

If a measurement of success to people on here is to play in a grand final or at least reach the prelims every year then they will be complaining after nearly every season.

Suck shit, haters! Eat another one!

Nathan Buckley is poised to win a contract extension to help transform Collingwood

THE one certainty amid so many unanswered questions is that Nathan Buckley will be given the chance to transform Collingwood in his own uncompromising image.

Buckley will almost certainly be handed a contract extension over the summer that will solidify his position of power.

You are just being silly. Ain't going to happen. Not worth even dreaming about.

thats what people would of said about Malthouse going to Collingwood or Lyon going to Freo....

Clarkson would of been at the Hawks 10 years by the end of next season,we would be crazy not to go hard at him

I think we have the money to feather the nest for coaches tired of the stress of being head coach but still wanting to be involved in football.

Money is one of the few comparative advantages we have as a club and we should be building a bloody MENSA institute for quality coaches tired of being top banana.

I think every coach should get 3 years. If we drop out of the finals next year, then I'd say go after Lyon with bucket loads of money.
3 years when there's 18 teams? Outrageous. On average we should win a premiership every 18 years. We expect better, because we are cashed up. So maybe 1 in every 10 which would be overachieving. Then to give a coach 3 years?? Ludicrous!

No, it's better to turn the coaches over every few years. That way we can have all the benefits of short term planning. New coaches, new plans, new lists. That's the way to do it.

We need to see where we are at in 12 months time. Nothing in this game is guaranteed, tenure included. This isn't about personalities or club greats, it's about what's and who is best for the club at any given time. If he's the best fit in 12 months, then so be it. If not, then the board is remiss if it doesn't consider all avail options.

Just start off saying howdy Fu, long time no see, good to see you around.

But on tenure, Mick got a reasonable shake of it and the only way was up for him when he took over. Bucks took over at the top end so he was always going to have a harsh measure.

I'm confident if Bucks is given 12 years, he'll shake one or two down.
