Close one between Cotchin and Palmer.

Had to go with Palmer. I have only heard good things about both but i havent seen Cotchin once and he didnt look that good. Just a one off probably but what i saw from Palmer in the same game was impressive. Looked to be a tough nut with great skills.

MASTEN!

Why does everyone keep ignoring the number 1 ball distributor in this draft?
I agree that Masten is great at distributing the ball like a Sam Mitchell but I'm not so sure that he has what it takes to be as damaging as a Cotchin or even a Palmer.
Sure it helps to get plenty of the ball but long term I think that Cotchin is more likely to be a match winner and create a lot more headaches for the opposition than Masten.
I'm always read your thoughts with interest Phoenix and agree with most of what you say but not sure that you are on the money this time

If i had a choice my order would go ...

Cotchin
Masten
Ebert
Palmer
Henderson
Morton

Please dont draft Morton, the last thing we need is another tall stick figure player running around in the yellow and black.

I'll continue tossing the coin but by November I'll probably be at Cotchin.

But right now I hate that we lack in the outside area.

If we could guarantee Jack Grimes will be there at 18 (Which isnt too much to ask imo) I'd go to Cotchin in a heartbeat.

EDIT: ARGH but just though then we'll end up without Alex Rance or Tayte Pears, the two CHBs that would develop the quickest to slot into our shallow backline. And yes both are already heavier than McGuane and Thursty.

I know what you mean and it makes sense but the one area we have lacked for a long time is a player who is potentialy a genuine match winner and I think that Cotchin fits the bill better than Masten.
I think either will be playing senior football next year and both seem to have enough to suggest they will be 200 game plus players.

Grimes will be around our 2nd pick for sure. He is a good player but disposal lets him down a bit. We need players with skills like Cotchin.
I would rather get Selwood with our priority pick and a ruckman with the other.
Please Richmond dont take Morton. I really dont want him as i have a big feeling we will regret it in the end. :thumbsu:

Ive never seen henderson play before, can anyone tell me who he plays like?

He looks like he has a bit of height and weight

no idea - which one has the best ability to be an in and under, strong, competitive midfielder?

Masten.

Cotchin has everything you say also but he's very much a finisher. Not to say he doesnt find his own ball, he does but Masten gets in finds, and dishes it all day long.

It's a tough call.

We have Foley Tuck Polo Jackson King Connrs and if he comes back strong Couglan who can all distribute the ball.
Other than Lids and Tambo who still has a way to go we are still dealing with unknowns as to whether we have ball carriers who can deliver the ball such as Edwards Casserly and so on.
Cotchin is a ready made ball carrier and what I have seen of him he uses the ball as well as any kid I have seen in a long time.

Agree :thumbsu:

On PRE they reckon that both Miller and Francis cant split between Cotchin and Morton and rate them very highly and i get the impression that we will go for Morton  which will be a big mistake. I cant wait till the draft only 3 months to go.
Weaver if you had the chance to pick up Cotchin or Morton who would you go for?

Had a very good year last year, but has been unlucky with injurys this year, very good kick for hes size played a couple of games in the ruck for geelong falcons this year but definetly will be a foward not a ruckman.
Apparantly the bulldogs have showed interest in him but imo i wouldnt pick him up anywere before pick 20.

Morton. ;)

I doubt Wayne Hughes and Shane Rogers have made up their minds and have pencilled Kreuzer in at number one just because he's a ruckman. Carlton had the chance to draft Leuenberger who is a better tap ruckman and prospect than Kreuzer and we went for the midfielder.

Carlton need a player like Cotchin as much as we need a ruckman in Kreuzer.

Don't let Gilly see this thread or he'll pass out.

Spot on Summary.
Would be very suprised if he goes first round.

Another Skinny lanky guy we need to give time to? :( Please no.

Cotchin Ftw. He can have an immediate impact and I have no doubt he'll be a very good player.

Can someone please tell me if the season was over right now, so the ladder was like it was atm.
What draft picks would we get ???

We would get pick 2,18 and 20.
But since carlton or melbourne at least have to win one more match we will either get

If carlton win

1, 17, 19

or if melbourne win

2, 18, 19
