His is a great story.

Sad day but an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate his triumphs and impact on footy and society.

Virtual hug Eddie, from me to you. Legend.

Was great seeing you smile Eddie

Go out with a bang this weekend

Best to you post footy

yes all the best to the best enjoy your life after footy you are a credit to yourself and the indigenous community
Go out and smash it this week you Champion sad 😢 to see you go but all good things must end sometime

A walk up hall of famer, and should be a legend of the game in later years. The greatest EVER small forward to ever do it. All AFL followers will forever remember the left foot barrels from the boundary. Go well Eddie, give us something special 1 last time

Feels like yesterday that I was upset we took this unknown Eddie kid instead of Lance Piccone in the PSD.

All the very best Eddie!

You and Fev were the only two shining lights for a lot Carlton supporters who painfully turned up to the games during that era.

An absolute champion on and off the field! It’s been a pleasure growing up watching this little wizard at work

I know this might sound like a cliche. But despite a lack of success for two and a half decades, tonight I am feeling like a very successful Blues supporter because Eddie Betts was ours for 11 of his 17 brilliant years in our great game.

Every retirement is a celebration of a players career. But this one is special.

Thank god Richmond took Trent Knobel before we had a chance to inevitably shoot ourselves in the foot.

;) :thumbsu:

Round 2 2006 versus Collingwood, driving with my former wife and 14 month baby daughter along Cranny road in Frankston. Eddie kicks what became the goal of the year, from the driver's seat I exclaim "Eddie Betts!!!".
This little voice cry's out from the back seat, "Eddie Betts".......
My daughter's first words were Eddie Betts, this bloke has always meant more to me than goals, perceived pressure, assist's, or tackles. His name is a part of my DNA. When I see this bloke hurt from ignorant stupid racist words, it hurts me too; when he cries on national television for his brothers suffering racism, I sob; when his best days were wearing another teams colors, I felt betrayed. But when he came home, he came home.
No question my all time favorite player, not just for what he brought to the field, but for when he asked us to rise above ourselves , no colors, no accents, no religion, just people.
Right now I am balling my eyes out, I will always love him.

A true champion of AFL footy.

No.3 on non KPF goalkicking list in history behind only Lethal and K.B.

No.1 on alltime goal assist list ahead of everybody. Miles ahead of the next best who are all clumped together. Gary Jnr, Stevie J, Pendles, Selwood, Robbie Grey. Quite a list.

And a pleasure rating of AAA+ watching him do it all for 2 clubs.

As a person he went from little or no reading or writing skills to an eloquent spokesman for a whole community who want to listen.

Well played Eddie.
