Thanks to Ed for his valuable contribution, particularly in the initial.

His departure was well overdue and his presence and operating style were detrimental to running a successful and professional sporting club or business.

I'm thankful in part that two other long-serving presidents (Gordon and Carter) have stepped down before next year, each with a successor named, and only half the time in the seat.
Ed probably has to work out who replaces him still, with no intention to depart until now.
I'd prefer he moved on now, with a new president in the seat for a year to review Buckley's contract at the end of 2021.

I hope they find a candidate who is successful in business and operates with the best interests of the club as No 1 - including keeping his/her comments reserved while the coach, football manager and CEO represent the club in the media most of the time and implementing set terms and an eye to succession.

Thanks for your tireless service Ed.

The Presidency is largely a thankless job. When things are going well the spotlight goes on others, but when things are going badly you‘ve been the one who has stepped up and taken the poundings, and you’ve always done it in good grace, and always with Collingwood’s best interests at heart.

The accomplishments over the journey have been many. The move from Victoria Park is a seminal time in the club’s history. Our new training base, I’ve lost track how many build stages we’ve gone through, I think we might be up to stage 4 with the new medical centre? You’ve been the one who has worked behind the scenes to create the vision, to secure the funding for that vision, and to then execute on creating facilities we can all be proud of.

2010 is the highlight on the footy field, but there has been other successes for us supporters to enjoy. We’ve had epic finals wins, strong wins against our arch rivals, unexpected wins ... that game v Geelong in 2009 was one for the ages.

Ed has had a steady hand on the tiller. Under his Presidency we didn’t have a drugs saga like Essendon, nor a salary cap scandal like Carlton, nor a tanking scandal like Melbourne. Ed went into bat for us against Swans and northern states over COLA, and Port over the stripes.

Perhaps the biggest testament to Ed’s achievements is that Collingwood remains as much as ever a club that is relevant, and a club that the entire competition has very strong feelings about.

Ed, when the history is written, you will be remembered as one of our great Presidents because it was you who took “Good ol’ Collingwood” into the modern era.

Thank you.

Safe option would be Murphy or Waislitz. Heard Murphy was going to challenge in 2017 before he was asked to do the review.

Sally Capp would be a brilliant appointment.

Very successful and respected in business and in elected positions and is a woman which would be good for a club in need of some positive PR on the cultural side. It would also attract new commercial partners.

She's got experience inside the club previously, but isn't inside it now, so will come at it with fresh eyes.

On paper she'd be brilliant, but the timing is probably wrong given that she has just been reelected.

Would be my first preference

Definitely a shock opening to the member forum, but probably, in hindsight, not a huge surprise. Alot of pressure on many at the club over the covid period, and post season. Seeing Ed step away from his radio gig, l thought this was always a possibility of happening.
He has been fantastic for our footy club, practically picking the club up off its knees. He has done a hell of alot for this footy club, and l wonder where we would be if Ed didn't jump on board in 1998.
He has also brought some negative spotlight onto the club at times, but in all, there has been alot more good, that he has brought.
You can tell the love he has for the club, by the emotion in his voice when announcing he will be stepping aside. It will be hard to find a president more passionate!
Thank you Ed for everything you have done for our footy club, and l hope the club celebrates his presidency appropriately at some point next year.

Eddie has been perhaps the best thing to happen to Collingwood when he came on board and has done a fantastic job for a very long time.
However since 2015 or so I've had reservations about him continuing, then obviously the 2018 season put some of that to rest but then the last 18 months have shown we very much need a new direction and leadership.
Thanks Eddie for your contribution, looking forward to the future of our club.

Will celebrate his achievements, but am very happy to see him go. His announcement alone is evidence that he holds too much power. I don't want him anywhere near the decision on the next President.

100% Agree as IF he has anything to do with it then be next NO changes at the Club
