Regardless of what it is.. I'd hope it's something trivial... if Eddie was just a gutter journalist ok.. but he's also a president of a footy club and he should think would he like it if someone announced/broke news stories about Collingwood and the players (we all know he doesn't)... I think other clubs are starting to get tired of Eddie and his threats as president and then using his media persona to jibe in the name of the media. Regardless the gloves might start to come off from all the other clubs and this could actually lead to pain for Collingwood as people/clubs start to reveal interesting bits of information they've acquired on Collingwood in the past few years.

I'll have a stab at it..

I'd say Eddie may be looking into the AFL having no legal stance to stop third party deals happening as its impeding a person's ability to earn a wage. If they are employed by a third party and fulfill that employment, then player X is entitled to whatever wage the parties have agreed upon.

This would be regarding the third party deal we would be trying to organise for Cloke.

If there were no restrictions on third party deals and mix that with Free Agency, poaching of players would increase 10 fold, and the money being thrown around would be quite substantial.

Stab in the dark..

You may have hit the jackpot here !!!!
Let's hope it's true, 22 million people cannot sustain a comp with 18 clubs.
The sooner we get rid of 6 the sooner we can distribute players around so every club from #1 to #12 position on the ladder is only ever % away from top spot or bottom spot. Now that would be an awesome comp.

The AFL don't stop 3rd party deals. All they do is determine what comes within the salary cap. There is no legal issue here at all. The only issue the AFL need to be mindful of is AFLPA agreement because they need player buy-in for the sake of the CBA.

You'd think it will relate to 3rd party deals and Judd/Carlton.

Given what was said a few weeks back, combined with what is happening at Carlton now with Mick, Eddie would love nothing more than to either give Carlton a big f**k you, or to allow Collingwood to slip through the same net and keep the entire list together as ANOTHER f**k you to everyone else who wanted us to fall apart.

I just hope it is a big deal and not a let down. Couldn't care what club/supporters/afl executives its got to deal something as long as its a big deal and not "Collingwood will be playing a home game in Canada next year" or something shitty like that.

dont say that when maple is around

Could be the reveal of Cameron Wood and Trav as life-partners.

whats the mystery there ?

the last couple years we have had a few betting scandals involving both our clubs. I think this story could be similar but on a larger scale maybe like in the nrl

Surely if the AFL determine that a 3rd party deal should be included in the salary cap then they controlling or stopping them.

Name one bit of "interesting information" troll boy.

In all honesty, if these "other clubs" had anything which has not already been dragged through the media ad nauseum, it would have been out there long ago.
Where you get this idea that "other clubs" have been doing us a favor keeping dirt on the Pies to themselves I have no idea?

Even more confusing is why , Collingwood, specifically Eddie, but anyone at the club would possibly feel they have a duty to cover up the actions of a club like Carlton.

Personally I'm still amused that every club President did not make more of the fraud which was Judd's alleged employment by Visy.

It was and is pure and simple, cap rorting.

I think it maybe the first gay player to come out. I woudln't have thought that's the kind of news that could rock the AFL.

It must be negative news because he says it will rock the league. Apart from my first guess I can't really see anything else. I strongly doubt it would be Carlton and salary cap issues being the news becuase it would be wrong from a president of a rival club to break that kind of news and the media would have got a hold of it already.

But that isn't negative news.

And the first gay player coming out wouldn't need to be built up over a period - they would just come out. You don't need to 'work' on that story to uncover it.

In fact, many in the media know of many gay AFL players (as some supporters do as well), so there wouldn't need to be much 'uncovering'. I know of 4.

Having gay AFL players come out wouldn't 'rock' the AFL.

Agree.

Maybe back in 1912 it would have.

But this is 2012. Surely that news would struggle to rate as a human interest fluff piece these days.

at the time of initial announcement, it wasnt known when MM's appointment was going to be. maybe ensuring mick is in the job before revealing 'hey mick, just when you thought the blues was already going to be a hard gig, heres some news for ya' :p

Having gay AFL players come out wouldn't 'rock' the AFL.

but enough sections of the media (ACA, talkback radio) WILL see it as 'a disgrace, disgusting' (fawning to that segment of society), turning it all into a circus. its what the media do.
