EDFL Div 1 Discussion 2024

Will be much stronger, good coach and plenty of young talent coming through. Expect they play finals at a minimum next year.

Early days but could be a very even competition next season …
  • Avondale will be strong if most retained but feel they still need a couple to push for a quick return to Premier. No coach yet ?
  • West Coburg seem to be sticking together so hard to see them missing finals, more likely top 3 again.
  • St.Albans played finals both season in EDFL and haven’t heard of any leaving as yet, expect they have more cash to splash as well. Need another quality avenue to goal and a classy mid to be a contender.
  • Hillside an interesting one, had a good mix of youth and experience this season but the older ones are starting to show their age. Mo Kak has a big network and club is financially sound so would expect to see some handy inclusions.
  • Oak Park were huge this year and adding Hotchkin to the ruck will help, not a star even in Div.1 but does make them a bit stronger.
  • Craigieburn are going for it. Loaded up with some really good recruits, have young talent and a good coach. Finals lock IMO.
  • Tullamarine will need McKernan to be any threat, losing too many players and one pointers that limits their ability to bring in too many. Few names floating around from Mores reserves won’t make much difference. Outgoing coach doing everything he can to ensure they go down. Tough gig for Carey coming in.
  • Moonee Valley are a watch at the moment, lots of noise about who might be coming back/in. They were really disappointing this year and hope to see them bounce back. Think finals would be a stretch.
  • Taylors Lakes got some handy ones coming in, and close with one that would be one of the best in the comp if they land him. Could be a bit of a surprise packet, can’t have them in the 5 but think they will definitely consolidate in Div.1.
  • Roxy Park been very quiet on the socials with new signings, Golding adds depth at most these days. Terra will need to land a few or face a real threat of relegation.

Will again be the best division in EDFL
Josh Hill from St Albans retiring.

Competitive now that DP have left the equation. Also depends on your definition of competitive, top clubs in premier division are very well run football programs which displays in how dominant they have been over the last 10 years.

Haven't watched a WRFL game in a while but it begs the question of why teams are supposedly looking for a move to EDFL.
There were a few better than them the last few years.

DP landed 4th the 2022 in the WRFL, weren't going that well in 2021 and very lucky to win it in 2019 too.

They need quite a few more to be a threat you would think. Be one of the favs for relegation the way it’s going
Roxy, MV, Tulla and Taylor’s lakes the 4 in trouble.

Roxy- promise recruits however can’t see any coming

MV- a lot of Talk on here however missed on Covelli…. Also talk won’t be getting a couple 1 pointers who were likely, who next?

Tulla- losing players rapidly.

Taylors lakes- couple nice signings however coming up always hard.

You basing this on the recruitment of one player Golding??? A tad ironic isn’t it ! Or do you know they have a few more to come in?

Roxy & Tulla will be in the relegation battle

Taylors Lakes weren’t that far off Oak Park last year and have a much better team than they had in 2023 this year and already building into 2025 so think they will survive relegation.

Horne will be very good for MV and think he will have some solid connections, they relied on their top 5 players far too much though so if they did have any injuries to these guys they would be in the relegation battle.

I agree about Roxy and Tulla

However people forever that Roxy were well and truly in the finals hunt before Eliot’s injury where they didn’t win another game after it

Tullas slide thanks to the club immortal DC

It’s gonna be an interesting open year 2025

Roxy always talk themselves up and when they fail again, are full of excuses. To channel the great Ron Barrasi "SHOW ME RESULTS THEN I'LL SHUT UP".......................
