Did I hear correctly he broke a 14 year record for the 20 metre sprint at the combines? It was from Nat Edwards on the AFL website, but she seemed confused.

However his speed combined with his height is a pretty good prospect.

it's an interesting outcome and i'm laughing to myself a bit because he is so un-derek like with the athletism and height....and yet he's such a derek pick with his bolter status and his major draft year injury...so once again, derek takes us on a journey with a player who could be a million bucks or a dud..

Yet to see a lot of his inside work; I see him as much more outside than inside… maybe in time a tall, hard running, marking winger ?

Apart from speed… looks to have the needed endurance

Ironically that was probably Hines last pure pick after F/S and Academy.

Knightmare mentioned in his Top 100 video that Allan has the most upside of any player in his view, due to the late growth(20cm) and weight(20kg) added. Said he could end up being a top 5 talent, but if you only looked at his stats you wouldn’t have him inside the top 40.

Seems very much a boom or bust pick. Hopefully it’s the former.

Yep I must say Hayes felt like the safe play.

If we get Hayes I'll be pretty happy.

As a reminder, our boy Ed tested fastest in the land at 20m sprint, 5th best agility (@194cm), and equal 8th best for standing vertical jump.

and he can play footy….

It's hard to please some. Poor Ed had a back fracture most of the year and obviously wasn't able to do a big body of work. I just see this kid in 2 years time with a couple of pre seasons and some muscle on that body and think he could easily become a faster version of Cripps

I am just a bit shocked a kid that runs 2nd fastest 20 metres ever at combine and is 194cm slips to us.

However, definitely not complaining

Lol. This is my fear, another Hine tweener that doesn't pan out.. Hope my fears are looked back with laughter in future years but my first thought was another Poulter

Except Poulter isn’t fast, is extremely one sided, and was about 5kg lighter than Allen is when he was drafted. The only real similarity between them is height tbh.

2.81s is rapid…. Kid has all the tools, just a bit more casual than the highly touted guys. But he does love his family and mates…
