Definitely better suited to the inside mid role rather than being out on a wing. Loved his composure, doesn't panic really. Still some mixed results by foot but he's gotta be in the mix for 2025.
 
What I liked most about his game tonight was how he used his body and his want to use his size. It’s something that will transfer to better opposition.

I think he should follow Sidebottom and learn how to get rack up cheap possessions in space.

He’s great on the inside but it’s unlikely he’ll be able to play as a full time inside mid next season with Nick, Pendlebury, Crisp, De Goey coming back, Sidebottom doing his run with roles inside and Tom Mitchell isn’t going to give up his spot without a fight. There will likely be times where he gets pushed out to the wing or to half forward and he’s gotta impact at those times to keep his spot.

He looks really good.

Daicos, Daicos, Allen and McGuane could be the next future midfield.

Yes, he will be. It's even possible he could get nominated this week (he probably won't but it would be a good story if he did) and nominated again in 2025.

Thanks, I knew from a games played he’d be eligible, wasn’t sure on his age though.
 
He was involved from the get go, with a really productive first quarter, and no significant drop off after that.

In the first ten or so minutes I was all (to my mate) ‘that’s Allan’, ‘it’s Allan again’ and ‘was that Allan?’.

Loved to see it. Was a very welcome fillip for the team and fans, at the end of a crazy but ultimately disappointing year.

I’d be tempering expectations myself. That was pre-season match simulation type intensity and in a head to head 6 months from now I’m going with Titch in that role. What he needs though is to take his game to the next level in the twos and become a Tsatas level ball winner. We’ve seen that of late, but it’s only 6 weeks ago he was having 15 possession games at that level.

Anyone on the Macrae or McInnes bandwagons take note. Allan may have been brushing tackles for fun, but it’s what he did after that which the other two can’t. Taking ground with your legs is huge in our team and unless you’re pushing Pendles or Titch out you need that trait to play mid with us.

It’s a weird feeling. Like a holding pattern, which may last six months ha ha.

Was a weird game last night, with the lightning break but also the hate that Melbourne fans have for Maynard. I’ve never seen so many arguments break out in the MCC members. People being escorted out by security, anger and frustration everywhere for them.

But we still have Carlton in it. I can’t relax into September until they are done. Hopefully as soon as this weekend.😋

That’s gotten weird. To me at least it made sense on KB, but the three times it’s happened the boos have been drowned by cheers which will happen for the remainder of his career. Why poke the bear?

The one I’d be keeping a watch on though is booing of Pickett in 2025. That will get through to the keeper in 2024 it’ll become an issue though if it carries into next year because the fans don’t have a representative to protect them and the media have short memories.

Was a surreal feel to it all last night I thought. Yes when Carlton finally gets puts down will bring a smile to my face and joy in my heart knowing the balance of the universe has been restored.
