Anywho, bit sick of reading the North board today...lots of finger pointing at individual players.

It is what it is.

Structures & systems will play some part to resolving this and if they flounder on Sunday well we have another preseason to sort them out.

But the biggest dilemma is how to counteract Cox-Nat around the ground. Can't just rely on Goldy. The way these two generate play for the rest of the WEagles has undone us this year. There has been a hestitance to tag this year...and who would you send to tag anyway? A real big problem. Would be interesting to know some analysis of games they lost and what was done to stop their influence.

Kerr needs attention. He's been playing more of an outside role recently. Bastinac has beaten him before, he needs to be given the job again.

Hurn also needs attention but we haven't played a forward tagger all year, we're not about to start now. It's actually a very complex role to play. Wright's role on Goddard was entirely different, they were going at it on the wing.

3rd man up at stoppages will help.

We need to get someone up A. Simpson style to smash the ball into space and depend on our leg speed to get first use of the ball. The way our past 2 weeks have been if we rely on winning the clearances they (Kerr, Priddis, S. Selwood) will have a picnic lunch.

Hawks showed that if you match them in close and sit very tight on blokes like Gaff and Masten that the Eagles can be slowed down significantly. We need a really good start and a very even contribution from all 22 blokes. Spitz, Cunners, JZ and Wellsy need to take it right up to Priddis, Kerr, Selwood etc and give it everything, and blokes like Basti, Anthony and GIbson will need to run their arses off and execute.

Who in our side can do the defensive work while still getting the ball and being useful themselves?

Basti? Gibson, Anthony and Macmillan will need to play two way blinders too.

jack needs to step up big time if he his going to go with shuey or priddis, wells and kerr a shootout. someone has to play close attention to either hurn or waters, more likely hurn. their backline is iffy so if we can win the midfield we can win

The resting WCE ruckman is going to be the single biggest issue.

I'm very concerned that the coach is going to do **** all about it.

Hurn plays like a winger at times though (especially against us earlier on this year). He's their quarter-back, like Birch from Hawthorn. Not shutting him down could be a problem. Wright would be a great matchup because going forward he is a strong mark and would leave Hurn in two minds. Thomas on Hurn will not

More to the point what will Scott do when the floodgates inevitably open?, Laidley didn't have plan C, wonder if Scotts got it.

What do you suggest we do?

I don't want to play another ruckman unless HMac sprouted magical legs. Our options are Pedo, Daw & Mabon, unless I'm forgetting anyone. Pedersen is the only one even vaguely game ready. I'm not against bringing in Pedo for Delaney, but assuming Grima is fit, where is the extra spot?

I also don't want to pull Petrie out of FF to back up ruck. Twin towers wil fall without Dish.

The second ruckman is our single biggest worry, especially with Goldys current form.

Wright will go to Hurn.

Our inside mids just have to be harder at it then theirs, all day. If Selwood, Shuey, Priddis and Kerr, get on top of our boys we are in massive strife. HUGE games required from JZ, Swallow, Cunnington, Bastinac, Anthony, Gibson.

No Adams is really going to hurt.

The key forwards must fire.

We struggle against teams who play strong presses and effective plus ones. In Tassie we did well when we were able to make Hurn go to Tarrant, but as soon as they were able to get the extra free we struggled. If they really stretch us down back I reckon we just roll Hansen or Petrie back for short periods.

Their outside runners are the most dangerous. Shuey, Gaff and Masten.

They rely on Hurn and waters from the backline. Stopping these guys is more important than stopping guys like Priddis.

Kerr gets the hard tag because he plays inside and outside

More to the point, if the floodgates open up in a final, probably means your plan A isn't good enough meaning your plan C is irrelevant. :stern look

It was the sole reason we lost that match.

If he treats this final like another apprenticeship exercise then he can go and get ***ed as far as I am concerned.

No more throwing games for development.

???

Do you really think he'll treat a FINAL as an apprenticeship?

Making the finals is just getting harder. They'll never know when they'll be there again.
