2 points behind Pool, albeit with a game in hand, but I assume Chelsea aren't because your players keep saying they aren't :tearsofjoy:

Seriously though, Pool still have a lot of difficult away games so there is still a big opportunity for them to drop points and as we have seen this year all it really takes is an injury or two to key players for teams to struggle.
A Salah injury or a VvD injury brings them back to the pack, just as losing Odegaard ****ed Arsenal and how losing Rodri ****ed City (yes both teams had other injuries, but they were "straw that broke the camels back" injuries).

I still think its Pools title to lose, but Chelsea have the squad depth to keep pace. For a team with Chelseas younger players its about staying in form more than anything.

Penalty and WHU take the lead from a Paqueta penalty.

Also stutter penalties can **** off.

Much will depend on the winter transfer window. We're already struggling with 3 out of 4 fullbacks unavailable plus Konate out. Endo is not ideal as depth in midfield at all.

If we don't sign a midfielder at least in January I can see this team running out of steam later in the season, especially if we play this league cup semis.

The thing is though a lot of your players know what its like to be at the top at the pointy end, and you still have quite a few league and UCL winners on your list.
So even if your manager is inexperienced in that, the players know.

Arsenal and City have players who know how to run the race, but their seasons are cooked by injuries.
Chelseas list and manager are very inexperienced.
Nottingham Forest won't be able to sustain this push, their ceiling is 4th at best.

Pool just have to avoid losing Salah or VvD. If you do that you will win the title.

Who are your 4 fullbacks?

Robertson and Alexander-Arnold have both played in 14 of your 15 league matches.

I count 5 full backs with 2 of them injured. When Robbo got sent off they shifted Gomez to LB and Gravenberch to CB. Robbo will be available against Spurs because the League Cup quarterfinal counts as his 1 match suspension. Gomez will probably go back to CB.

TAA
Robertson
Gomez
Tsimikas - a week or 2 away.
Bradley - 3 to 4 weeks.

Yeah not sure on 3 out of 4 full backs out.

But Tsimikas and Bradley, our back up FB's havent been available recently.

Think Tsimi is back now though. Conor Bradley still out for a while.

If Chelsea some how win the league after being shit the last few years while we faulter I will be pissed.

Yeah we did(think i was £900m spent £400m made) . We turned over the whole squad which the sanctions helped happen.

But we don't need to or will spend 500m every season now.
Yeah, still shouldn't be rewarded for spending an insane amount of money that other clubs can't even get near spending.

I got these numbers off transfermarkt so don't sue me if they are not right. But does it mean Chelsea will struggle to meet
PSR rules that dictate PL clubs can't post a loss of more than £105m (€107m) over a three-year period?

2024/25

Overall balance €-40.50m

2023/24
Income €278.30m

Overall balance €-185.80m

2022/23
Income €67.86m
Expenditure €630.25m
Overall balance €-562.39m

Yeah that first year was crazy, but since then it's tracked back to normality, for a club like Chelsea anyway.

The squad is pretty well set nowadays so we arent or don't need to be spending 500m every year.

They are, but the takeover conditions was having to invest £1b back into the club. Seems they we a little over😛

The extra couple of hundred mil probably utilised by Boehly to convert himself into a gold statue.

The expenditure has been scaled back this season but it looks like a loss of €788m over 3 years.

That's before the €88m write-off of Mudryk as an asset if he's found guilty.

It's going to be interesting to see how our moneymen make this project work. I guess they do know what they are doing.

How are those takeover conditions legal? Who came up with the arbitrary figure and how do they enforce it?

They were Romans conditions to allow a smooth transition. New owners also unable to sell for 10 years and not allowed to take management fees or dividends.

I'd be staggered if that held up legally, especially considering the situation he found himself in.

What's he going to do if any of that happens anyway? He's not allowed back in the country is he?

I guess there's allows legally binding clauses in all business sale, I've signed one before when I sold a previous business.
