Ange needs some pragmatism until he gets better players. Dumb football
Even if the defence is fully fit, and with Van De Ven's great tracking back speed, trying to cut off those over the top balls from a high position year in year out can't be good for his hamstrings long term.

Side note: I'd like to know where Spurs rank for catching people offside. If the high line isn't doing that, it might be worth pulling it back a bit. Not saying park a bus either.

We've lost our way defensively since Konate went out. When we had a settled back four of TAA, Konate, VVD and Robbo we were watertight but since he went down we've been leaking goals. He's back soon though thank god.
Liverpool were 5-1 up when Mac went off - the whole game changed with Mac off.

All three goals Liverpool conceded were soft and happened when the game was well and truly all ready over. If a team is going to lose concentration then 3-0, 5-1 and 5-2 are good times to do it.

It is hardly a problem. Spurs might not be able to defend, but they can score.

Fifth 0-0 draw involving Everton and they've only scored in one game in the last seven.

Dycheball eh?

If it helps them stay up, all the power to it.
English media would be froffing over that, why try and win when you can just kill the game

First Liverpool game I've seen all season stress free from the start. The fact it was Tottenham with their high line attacking football combined with all their injuries we were never losing this. It was akin to watching 2 boxers standing toe to toe in the middle of the ring throwing punch after punch.
I can guarantee though that if it was Arsenal or Chelsea playing instead of Tottenham we would never have conceded 3 goals as the approach would've been a touch more cautious.

Before last night’s game Spurs had conceded same number of goals as Chelsea and were equal third or fourth best in the league. Not bad with those injuries.

A high line is not just to catch teams offside. It reduces the space for teams to play out from defence and to counterattack, with a press increases chance of getting the ball back in good position. So it helps the team retain possession and therefore defend better.

Clearly it worked.

Yeah I don't think the problem is the high line, low block with that defence likely to concede just as many.
Teams too tired to all press together and it's leaving openings.

I know we say pragmatism needed by Ange, but he’s planning for players to play his style when they come in one at a time…. It’s the system, not the players. But the whole back 5 out, well…..
