Bews averages like 10d. Kolojazzknee is well behind the bog average Jonas and clurey.

Most of the guys you mentioned would fit into and play really well In geelongs system. hell Dbj would prob have a couple more all-aus selections.

It's an interesting flow on concept from the freebie pick. Usually the premiers would be short on draft capital and would sell off fringe blokes whilst they've got the associated premier sheen. This year they get to keep their depth AND load up with gloryseeking talent.

We had the fifth best defence in points conceded, I don't think this part of the game is our biggest problem.
 
Correct me if I’m wrong but couldn’t Esava threaten to walk out if a deal wasn’t done? Then Geelong would have had to accept 33.
Maybe he’s not that sort of guy and Geelong also made some assurances that he’d get more game time if he stayed and they’d only trade him if they got a really good pick in return because they rate him.
If he really wanted to come he could have made it happen surely.

He could, but he would have to sit out the year. Also would have to have a reason for doing so, I imagine, depending on the terms of his contract.

Thst doesn’t mean the list of players you named wouldn’t easily crack a Geelong side that played kolo and Zac Guthrie all year.

Yeah but we've just had a shit year, so our players are automatically considered less valuable.

If we played the same hypothetical 12 months ago they're both subject to a bidding war for their delisted free agent services.

Absolutely correct, the Bassett method of defence where pushing the ball sideways with weight of numbers and then locking it up on the boundary line was as boring as batsh*t, and resulted in way too many low scoring slug fests.

It had a detrimental effect on the offence as well, with sideways to the pocket being the norm even when the goal face was wide open.

Surely the club didn't trade for JHF and Junior Rioli to go through that crap again.

Well it is a business. Players need to consider this when signing contracts. Probably why Rankine signed on only for 3 years
