Tom clurey Is currently miles better than esava as a backman.

Like light years better.

Having said that, esava could be developable, and clurey could be on a decline.

There’s also a thought that while esava might not currently be better, that we could be better off fielding a lesser quality defender, whose size fits a need more and back ourselves into growing that guys game so that the whole esava might be well well behind clurey now, putting time into him he could close that gap and quickly pass a older player
For years Clury has been playing with a modified boot to assit him with his bung foot.
Does a great job but he will always be injury prone.

So is it a coincidence that many ex Geelong players have the nicest houses, cushy media jobs post retirement and are also severely underpaid during their playing career?
"They're just a professional, well run organisation."
"Its tall poppy syndrome."
"Players just love the laidback Geelong lifestyle, they can surf!"
"Hawkins is a hero and took a paycut."

Plenty of independent ASA's outside the ASA cap working down at Geelong and along the surf coast.

Adelaide should be a similar pitch really. It's a lifestyle city

It is in a way. Housing is still way more affordable here compared to Melbourne and Sydney. Part of the pitch to Aliir a few years back was showing him Henley Beach and telling him he could live there in a nice house on the water compared to a shoebox apartment in Sydney for the same price.

It's why none of the Vic country kids who Port draft seem to ever leave. Adelaide is a great place to live regardless of its reputation on the Eastern states. I've lived in Melbourne CBD for nearly a decade, also lived in Sydney but nothing is more convenient than Adelaide.

I was watching the SA v Vic shield game yesterday, they had injured Nathan McAndrew on the commentary, who moved from Sydney to Adelaide last summer for opportunity. Raved about how good it is to live here (in Norwood) and being 15-30 minutes away from anywhere else. He specifically mentioned the ability to catch up with team mates or go out after training without needing to worry about a 90 minute trip home. This should be a huge selling point but I guess Vic metro kids prefer the look of going out with an entourage of their private school mates in da clubs on King Street.

Yeah, it must be a special player when we draft Vic-Metros boy.
Always look first at the country boys; they love living in Adelaide.

Wtf, Geelong just gave Brisbane 5 picks for 25. That’s unreal. I thought you can’t take more picks to the draft than list spots you have. Brisbane are going to have to delist a number of players to make this happen. Also that makes it even harder now for them to get Dunkley.

Ken likes to use pinch hit ruckman.SPP+Dixon, Finlayson this year.Maby he goes fwd if Lycett not fit and Dixon is full time ruckman.
Depending on how we use Finlayson next year.

Probably still more things to play out for Brisbane.

Ollie Henry played 15 games this year = pick 25
Ratatoullie plays 4 games this year = first round pick

Yea sure Mackie, no worries.
Ollie Henry is also a twenty year old former pick 17 as opposed to Ratugolea a 24 year old former pick 43.

Wow, Ollie Henry worth more than Karl Amon.

FFS AFL, if you'd given us the Round 1 compo then there'd be no JHF drama, no Rioli drama, no Ratagolea drama.

F. F. S.
Of course he is. He is only 20 years old, drafted at pick 17 in 2020 and has shown alot already.

They’re saying this is only part of the trade to Collingwood. Remains to be seen I guess.

With a full side - I reckon Port could play Finlayson on the wing in part, with the flexibility to go man behind the ball.

Esava to play back.
