They could ontrade it bundled with whatever else they're trading for the full squad of players they're bringing in though. Still some small value - and they get a little cap space and a list spot. Once they have Henry secured, watch Esava become totally expendable.Geelong want something in return for Esava. They lack list spots this year so any third round pick is going to be unusable for him.
Is Greg Phillips doing pro bono development?I hope those that have already pencilled him in for starting key defender post can actually say they’ve watched him.
He’s nothing more than a hope and a prayer. Legit.
Having said that I’m all in favour of taking longshot hope and prayer guys hoping they turn into a decent key defender. It’s exactly the thing we should be doing with the last spots on our list, not adding dime a dozen 178ish cm nobodies like mcintee.
But if he becomes a starting key defender it’s because a punt paid off, and he developed cause anyone who reckons he’s a monty to be a quality starting defender is full of s**t.
He makes every kpp we’ve had on our list in the past 20 years look like they were born to play. Seriously looks like he took up football 10 minutes ago and still doesn’t know sfa about it.
Does that mean he can’t make it?
Hell no it doesn’t. He’s got physical tools, key defender is a position that can be taught if only just to a limited see ball get ball type or lockdown type or some such and he’s young enough and our key defense is old enough that we have a need.
I just don’t buy the
“Will be a starting key defender” for us as anything other than misinformed and wishful thinking
I think ..
“Could be a left field pickup that becomes a starting key defender”
Is a more reasoned position to take.
And why the hell not take that punt. Go for it.. at the right price
At best he's a 3rd rounder. Likely if we gave up 43 we would be getting a 4th back. 53 is realistically a fair and balanced trade for Esava.AFL Trading Day on Fox Footy tonight said, that Esava Ratatouille would be worth mid to high 30's pick.
As Ford pointed out, same as Ollie Henry?AFL Trading Day on Fox Footy tonight said, that Esava Ratatouille would be worth mid to high 30's pick.
Does he have any value really, outside of being in the system. Can’t get a game at Geelong, has deficiencies.A late 40’s pick is about what his value is imo.
A first round pick for Ratugolea is one of the more insane valuations this trade period, and that's saying a lot.
He's barely more likely to play 100 games for us than a random pick in the 40s. All he's got is a few years of development at Geelong.
This 100%, don't get beaten by what we know already what we've known for multiple years is that we don't have a KPD to match up on the big bodied forwards.Ratugolea may only be a stop gap big kpd until we can draft and develop someone else of genuine size, but a big athletic beast like him has to be a better option than watching Clurey and Jonas being monstered by oppo gorillas, which has too often resulted in Aliir having to be taken away from his most effective role as an intercept defender.
I think he'll play more AFL games than Sam Hayes in the future.I hope those that have already pencilled him in for starting key defender post can actually say they’ve watched him.

Half the guys on our list would meet that value purely based on the overrating of picks. He'll play a lot of footy for us.At best he's a 3rd rounder. Likely if we gave up 43 we would be getting a 4th back. 53 is realistically a fair and balanced trade for Esava.
It's just Kingy being salty. Our pick 43 should do it surelyAFL Trading Day on Fox Footy tonight said, that Esava Ratatouille would be worth mid to high 30's pick.
But that is the going rate for player trades these days for fringe players like Esava who are a long way in the system and still struggling. He is only a slightly better prospect than Frampton who we gave away for a 4th.Half the guys on our list would meet that value purely based on the overrating of picks. He'll play a lot of footy for us.
Are you trying to jinx Sav already..This is looking like an Brian Taylor's wet dream of having Ratugolea and Fantasia in the same side.
