I'm going to try and be optimistic. I thought a lot of our younger players like Heppell and Daniher played fantastic.

Pears or Fletcher down back instead of Steinberg would've been great. A lot of people are upset at him but one of those goals was a 2v1 handball over the top and another two were uncontested kicks that hit Brown on the chest. He then converted from tough angles.

Hopefully this game despite the outcome makes Bomber want to remain at the club and in the box with us next year. I'm ready for TRB to return.

With a young list that has a lot of upside I'm excited for next year.

weren't gonna challenge this year. guys like colyer, Merrett, Joey and belly will be better for the run. we build on this for next year. have to make finals and have to take the next step.
we need to keep Ryder as well. no idea what it will take, but he is too important to lose. we also don't have a replacement for him

Two players who have been awful in recent weeks - Stanton and Hibberd. Stanton surprisingly had 19 touches - about 10 more than I guessed.

Poor decisions through the game by our ball users - half kicks to no-one causing turnovers ad nauseam.

Fact is folks, our Achilles heel is the fact that almost every side runs harder defensively than we do. We need a couple of really hard runners in the off season to be drafted.

For me, I'm thinking it's almost time to pull the trigger with Stanton. Good value on the trade table, covered by others in the side.

The only consolation is that I have 3 kegs lined up for grand final day. I'll mix the beers with my tears.

This is what happens when you don't play consistent 4 quarters of footy. Norf did what we could not, they embraced the pressure we put on them and took the game head on. Lessons to be learned here by the team.

Positives for me:
- Upcoming quality young players in Daniher, Heppel, Z Merrett and Gleeson. Good to get them exposed to this type of pressure.

Pathetic end to a pathetic year. I expect much better next season.

Not sure how we expect better next year. Fell into the 8 this year and can't see much room for improvement. Dumb footballers still making same mistakes year after year. We are as fit as a country footy side with some players with skills to match.

I really believe Hird can coach but it will be a monumental effort to turn this team around.

If I can mention it at half time.. on this board.. then why can't the coaches see that he was being killed? I know that Brown hadn't kicked a goal to that point.. but the signs were there.. and then after he kicks 1, 2, 3 you still don't make the move?? I mean what did the box need, a written invitation?

Sad to say, but no matter how good Steiny looks at VFL level, he hasn't been able to play to the standard required at AFL level. Pretty big call including him in a final, and it bit us hard in the end.
