Everyone here is looking past the Northern Saints. Watched them and i think a couple of kids deserve to make the rep squads.
Silvio Campanaro, Nathan and Jack Milne and Michael Hoare. All are just standouts and someone definetly needs to give the edfl an email or send a scout down to watch them. They are versing the Valley next week at the Valley. GET SOMEONE DOWN!

I watched the game. Northern lucky to get the chocolates in the end. MV excellent in the last qtr. Thought their Number 14 was a good player. For Northern, a big tall kid showed some signs No 71 and no 15 killed it all day. No 9 was good in an under. Shame that Div 3 kids don't seem to get too much of a look in, but with grading now going on, this should really even things up in the junior grades, bar a few clubs . Surely this will force the EDFL to look at all divs, wouldn't you think?

Game starts at 1pm and definitely a high standard game even though both teams are missing key players due to other football committments.

No clue why Silvio and Nath aren't getting noticed. I wish I was that young, but my son does play :)
It's gotta be the fact that they play in division 3. Unfair to kid in lower divisions in my opinion.

Lots of big games this week and it'll be tough to tip winners. My tips for this week:
Division 1
Let's start with the biggest of all, Essendon Doutta Stars host the might of Keilor, which team will get their first loss of the year? Douttas might miss Campisi due to Vic metro telling the kids to try to not play at club level, and Keilor also might miss Venables, L. Bagaric and McManus. Douttas with the home advantage might just get over line, but I'm not certain.
Greenvale < Abers by 120 pts
Hillside > Strathmore by 30 pts
West Coburg > Marby by 45 pts
Division 2
It will be a tight game at Craigieburn this week and Oak Park will be looking for a win, but Craigieburn is hard to beat at home and we all know that:
Craigieburn > Oak Park by 12 pts
APW < Glenroy by 80 pts
Roxy > AH by 4 goals
Once again another tight game, this time at Hadfield. Abers (2) will give them a run for their money but for me I think that Hadfield will win by 10 points.
Division 3
A big test for Douttas (2) at Northern Saints, expect a big game from the second tier players in Campanaro, Milne and D'Arro for the sainters. Very hard to pick a winner here so I'll just say Sainters by 5 pts.
TL > MV by 15 pts
Marby < Pacco by 125 pts
Last but not least Westmeadows head over to Keilor for what should another classic. If Keilor put their head down and work hard they'll win but Westy just seems too strong for my liking.
Keilor < Westy by 30 pts
Last game for grading, which might determine who goes up or down so good luck to all teams this week, cheers!

Tipping was a bit average this week, though Douttas beating Keilor by 40pts, Airport West winning by 8pts against Glenroy and Oak Park by 2 at Craigieburn were some of my highlights of yesterday's results. The fixture for the rest of the year will be up tomorrow so I'll do a little review on how I think the ladder will pan out and also the contenders for the Grand Final.

Alright here we go:

These are my ladder predictions and who I think will play in the Grand Final in Divisions 1, 2 and 3.

Div. 1
Abers
Douttas
Keilor
West Coburg
Hillside
Strathmore

This division showcases alot of talent and it is out of Abers, Douttas and Keilor as to who will play in the Granny.
I think will be a battle of who will play Abers in the grand final and after seeing Douttas beat Keilor comfortably, I think it will be Aberfeldie that will take on Essendon Doutta Stars. The game at Douttas ground on Sunday will be a highly touted match and there is a lot at stake.
GF: Abers v Douttas

Div. 2
Marby Park
Oak Park
Glenroy
Craigieburn
Avondale Heights
Roxburgh Park
Greenvale
Airport West
Hadfield
Aberfeldie (2)

Boy oh boy, wowee! You won't see a closer division than this. I believe Marby should have stayed in division 1 as they would have beaten Strathmore easily.
They will play in the Grand Final as far as I'm concerned. Every single team listed has a huge chance to play against Maribyrnong Park, but I'm going to pick Oak Park as they do show a lot of promise.
GF: Marby v Oak Park

Div. 3
Westmeadows
Pascoe Vale
Keilor (2)
Northern Saints
Douttas (2)
Moonee Valley

Thanks to grading we've got another tough division and it's still hard to pick a winner. I think Westy will come out on top and stay there. Pascoe Vale and Keilor will be hot on their heels.
GF: Westy v Pacco

I certainly agree that they are great players and the club has encouraged them to attend Rep training. A couple of the boys have been to Rep training in the last couple of years but have been overlooked. Northern Saints certainly encourage the boys to attend training but ultimately it's their decision. Great observation - you certainly can notice talented kids.

6 teams in Division 1 is a bit of a joke. I understand the grading system and what its meant to achieve but let's face it, Under 16 Div 1 is the flagship competition in the EDFL junior grades and to have only 6 teams in it is pretty poor.

Funny you'd say that because at under 15 rep training there are 12 kids from douttas trying out, and at under 16 level, there are 5 so the league is quite lenient with the stronger sides sending more than 3 players.
True, but having said that the rep coaches do get out and watch games in all divisions each week and will invite additional players that they feel deserve a shot. You also have to consider kids that have moved clubs and would have been invited at their old club. This adds additional numbers to the clubs they move to.

I was for the grading system, but have changed my mind.

My son plays u14 div 1, when the 7th round is completed he will have played these teams.

Abers - 3 times
Keilor - 2 times, both away
Strathmore - zero times.
The grading is obviously presenting fixturing problems, not to mention teams playing some sides more often, being disadvantaged if u play stronger teams more often or vice versa.

Can't see it lasting beyond this season

I certainly agree with you mate, I would rather 10 teams in division 1 than 6. It is a joke and the EDFL really needs to lift their game, if they have one.

Let's get on with the weekly tipping:

Div. 1
Keilor def Strathmore by 128 pts
Essendon Doutta Stars def Aberfeldie by 3 pts
West Coburg def Hillside by 27 pts
Div. 2
AH def Haddy by 14 pts
Abers (2) def by Maribyrnong by 89 pts
Craigieburn def Airport West by 8 pts
Roxy def by Oak Park by 5 pts
Glenroy def G'vale by 16 pts
Div. 3
Valley def by Northern Saints by 34 pts
Pacco def Essendon Doutta Stars (2) by 143 pts
Westmeadows def Keilor (2) by 24 pts

Our thoughts are with the Xavier Krikori and Malcolm Toy family this weekend and it'd be great if everyone got down to Nipper Jordan Oval at 2:20pm to commemorate their deaths and raise a bit of money, and also for what looks to be a ripper game.
Also to all the mother's out there have a good one!

Saw the division 3 game Northern Saints vs Mooney Valley, and the kids i mentioned earlier Silvio and Nathan were the best 2 on the ground by a mile. These kids deserve a go in the rep squad. 13,10 and 3 also had good games. Northern Saints look like a very good well structured side, although it's gonna be hard against the likes of Pasco and Westy's and even Kielor.

Oh i nearly forgot about him. Yes i agree he had a great game too. 15 is a very very smart footballer, and in my opinion was probably close to being best on ground the two prior weeks.

Is Silvio the kid from Greenvale?? Not to be rude, but it's division 3. If it is the kid i'm talking about than he did play Div 1 and he was actually really good. Unfortunately a few adults decide that they want their son to be the very best and take them to weaker clubs to make their son look better!!!

Yes he is from Greenvale. Some boys like playing with their mates. Others leave weaker clubs to chase that elusive dream with the stronger clubs. Some are also told you cant make rep sides from Div 3. ...thats why you end up with only six clubs in Division one.
Still gotta respect the kid who wants to play with his mates

Tips:
Division 1
Aberfeldie def Strathmore by 106 pts
EDS def West Coburg by 53 pts
Keilor def Hillside by 61 pts
Division 2
Roxy def Aberfeldie (2) by 44 pts
Hadfield def by Glenroy by 27 pts
Greenvale def by Craigieburn by 56 pts
APW def by Marby Park by 11 pts
Oak Park def AH by 28 pts
Division 3
Pacco def Westy by 38 pts
Northern Saints def by Keilor (2) by 9 pts
EDS (2) def Moonee Valley by 2 pts

Also a congrats to the players who made the EDFL U/15's and U/14's squads, good luck in the championships in a couple weeks

Watched the Saints and Kielor game in division 3. Kielor ended up stealing the game by 1 point. Game was a great standard.
It must have been a great game, losing by 1 point will always hurt. In other news, the EDFL will be regrading again and I believe Strathmore will do a little swap with Marby park after the beltings they had received and given respectively. Other than that, division 2 is almost faultless, there is always a tough game in that comp. In division 3, you can't do much, if you drop douttas there isn't any other team that will compete any better so unless they promote Burnside Heights and/or West Coburg, they should leave it.

So Marby and Avondale heights are now relegated to div 1. I don't know whether that helps strathies cause as they still need to compete against
teams who will obviously use them as training drills unfortunately.
Div 3 looks like a fairly even comp and I believe douttas will notch up a win soon as they are pretty competitive.
Good win by Keilor over saints on weekend with both teams having a real crack until the final siren, great entertainment.

I can't see Avondale getting any where in division 1, they only have a maximum of 5 players who can play real div. 1 quality football as for the other divisions hopefully they are left as it is
