The cold hard truth is that Essendon have accomplished absolutely NOTHING since 2004 and are an embarrassment to themselves and the league. They've been absolutely disgraced in finals twice. They tried to bottom out but forgot to collect talent on the way. They are a club on the fast track to nowhere - nothing is more certain.
Let's reflect on the accomplishments of the great club since 2004
We will all never forget the Matthew Knights debacle which brought nothing but hilarity. The club is still yet to recover.
They stabbed one of their all time greats in the back (Lloyd) pushing him out door while keeping Lovett-Murray and McVeigh on their list.
In their only two finals since 2004 they have been absolutely disgraced by a combined total of 158 points at the hands of Adelaide and Carlton.
They named a man called Michael Quinn in their finals side, and even forgot to name a Ruckman in their side. Classic Knights again.
One of my favourite moments was the Mark Williams trade. What a monumental f*** up that was.
With finishes of 13th, 15th, 12th, 12th, 8th, 14th and 8th you would expect they would have some ripe young talent on their list. But the only players even worth mentioning who are under 25 are Ryder, Zaharakis and Hurley - and Ryder's a spud. Great drafting Bombers
How can we forget the rising star chipscab Heppell. First round pick for a spare man. the best bit is how excited the Bomber fans are about him. They should take a leaf from the Richmond fans' book - they never had this much excitement about the Bowden's.
Every year brings nothing but hilarity at the Essendon trade week table. Their complete inability to land a player remotely resembling young talent is nothing short of amazing. Tried to get Travis Cloke but failed. Judd? No chance. Caddy? LOL Bombers. Every year they are linked to a big name. Every year they fail.
The latest sign of irrelevancy is Essendon's move to Tullamarine. With the other major clubs having world class facilities within minutes to the CBD, Essendon's upcoming move to the bush only highlights how far backwards this club has gone. We all saw what this type of move did to St Kilda, expect the same when the Bombers realise how bloody far away from everything Tullamarine actually is.
With an absolutely shocking list, zero young talent, an inability to draft or trade and an inexperienced coach paired with a bloke chasing a huge paycheque the hole is going to get deeper. The best part is that it's going to take these morons years realise they'll need a full rebuild before they can even challenge for another flag. The best is yet to come
