Roast Essendon members!

I'm a member and I am not going tonight due to the fact I've been sick all week, I thought about going but in the end thought I'd better not.

I think people's attitudes towards the team directly correlates with the attitude of the team. I and most supporters/members of the club can handle a loss, what I can't handle is the woeful performances and lack of effort we have seen this year. Games like the ones we played this year against Freo, Port, Adelaide, Melbourne, West Coast and the last qtr against Carlton. That is not how Essendon play football.

All winable games yet our performances were absolutely shocking, I know we are still a young team and you expect to be up and down but lack of intensity is a major problem at Essendon. The fact there is absolutely no continuity in our line up must also have an effect, Knights need to pick a best 22 and let them play together until injuries or a player has a month of bad footy (not a week). The players need to play with pride everytime they pull on the red and black jumper.

It doesn't make sense for members to not turn up to spite the club. They've got your membership money period.

It's a persons prerogative to turn up if and when they want to. Having supporters come on here and have a bitch and moan because people don't turn up is bullshit.

To say there turncoats or bandwagoners because they don't go is just sheer crap. Whats wrong with staying in and watching it on the TV?

I've been to 13 games this year and about the same mark for 8 of the last 9 years, but tonight I'm choosing to go out for dinner and watch it on TV.

Does that make me a bad fan?

So to sum up this thread:

A true supporter = a sheep or a masochist

A bandwagoner = someone how either doesn't enjoy turning up when the team they support doesn't bother to turn up or they decie they will mkae better use of their time than watch their team get belted due to several OBVIOUS reasons which after 5 years have still not been fixed.

It is good that Essendon has red in its uniform becuase this board is looking more and more like the reds which has been instigated over the last year or so by a pretty obvious group of posters.

Good summary.

After flying, the wife, kids and myself into the country and paying for accomodation it cost me around 2 grand and I still make 3 -4 games a year (Plus the GF). People who live in Melb need to realise how good they got it!

But on a related note the only reason I am dreading Rd22 is not that the team isnt playing well. Its that I will have to listen to the Essendon members complain all game.

Were shit, Knights is shit, wheres Myers, Stanton should be dropped (just after he has one bad disposal), ect.

IMO those members are embarrasing. While they dont represent the majority of us those are the members that people hear.

Whats the point of an end of season review if we already have the C.E.O coming out in the press and assuring the coach of a job next year? Shouldnt everyone at the club be made accountable for the trainwreck this year and not just minor players like assistant coaches and maybe a receptionist or someone?
I love this club but its being run by nuffy's, maybe Robsons role should be included in the review?

Glad i didn't become a member this year. We are an embrassment. Haven't seen as do anything physical all night.

Good way to punish the club. Don't become a member.

Guys us tigers have been through unimaginable misery with our club yet the supporters have stuck. You've had great success over the last 30 years. Tough times ahead yes but stick fat.

Have to admit, tonight was embarrassing to watch from the stands. At least we have another 12 months of this to look forward to.

The misery will be over in a fortnight, thank Christ.

My partner and I can't attend on Friday nights when her basketball game is on at 8:15 or 8:50. So the last 3 FNG we haven't attended. We are also Highmark 19 game members and visit every game except when it clashes with her basketball games. We'll be renewing our memberships for sure.

The members that are not showing up to spite the club, can Go **** themselves, also the members sitting in the stands abusing our own players, coaching staff and club...

Our members are the disgraceful part of this once great club at the moment...

If you guys dont want to stick out the tougher times, dont jump back on when all is going well...

I was devestated too on friday night, but hearing some of the crap coming out of our so called 'supporters' mouths made me more ashamed to be an Essendon supporter than what the boys did on the field..

For the clubs sake and the players sake, put a sock in it. Support the players and show up for the last 3 rounds............
How can anyone bag a supporter/member for not wanting to lay down there hard earned after watching some of the insipid shit they have put up this year?
Yes our side is young and inconsistant but i for one have to drive 2 hours to watch a game, and after some (a lot) of the perfomances this year im glad i havn't spent a cent to watch them.
Im not one that likes abuse towards player either, encourage the blokes.

And just because people are not at the ground doesn't mean they are not going to "stick out the tougher times", we will support the club till we die, and even if people dont show they are still doin it tough.

I was a shame to see half the crowd leave at 3 qtr time the last 2 weeks especially against rival teams. Is this normal for the average essendon member?

The same as when we beat you by 60 odd points last year and your supporters were leaving in droves at three-quarter time.

Every club has their fairweather supporters. Deal with it.

Like you can talk, your members leave at half time when your down by 5 points!.. Pathetic!

I will put my hand up and confess to missing the past two games.

Reason: I tend to skip games at the MCG, while I recongies it is a great venue but I just don't find the ground inviting on a cold winter night.

I hate the 7:40 starting time, I finish work at 5 and whle 7.40 isn't too bad at eithad for I can do a bit of window shopping or get a nice coffee from the coffee shop at the top of the elevators.
