By the way, any non Hawthorn people wish to gloat and troll this board they will be dealt with maximum prejudice. First and last warning.

Urgggggghhh. This hurts my brain. We played an awful first half. This match was like a regression: poor skill errors, yips in front of goal, Roughie missing for most of the match.

The most concerning thing was some of our 50 game youngsters really did poorly in this match. Also concerning were the injuries.

Well. Should give a kick up a lot of players, shut up the media and give hope to Box Hill Hawks waiting to pounce. Too many passengers for too long in this match.

The better team won. The Hawks were putrid and just like against port they got ahead of themselves.
No-one to blame but themselves

Kudos to Cyril ran to the point of exhaustion and Poppy who never stops trying

Not good enough, just looked weak for 3/4 quarters, on the other hand it's good because we brings us back down to earth and we won't think that we're gonna steamroll every team because this is what happens when you think that way.

Hopefully frawleys not out for too long cause he is heavily required, our defence was in shambles without him and Gibson. Mitchell better be back next week aswell because he is needed aswell

New rules, gentlemen.

Two-handed tap is now a throw.

Unless you're Goddard, for whom a 360 degree pirouette followed by one-handed twenty metre toss is play on.

New rules when cheats need to prosper, gentlemen.

Forget that our level of play was below par, and Mitchell mysteriously missed with a "calf" (or was it a kidney). That was not a level playing field. It was reminiscent of Goldspink in 2001. Really novel interpretations of rules at times that suited the *scum.

Disappointed we didn't have the class to withstand the cheats and the umpires. The panic at the end reminded me of 2010/11.

A few questions should be asked of senior players.

The focus will be on those final seconds, but we really lost it with a very poor first half.

We brought the last quarter from last week to today, when I was hoping to see some more of the first three quarters from round 1.

Congratulations to Essendon. The better team all day and we only fired in spurts. Disappointing result but maybe a kick up the backside the boys need to get our shit together for the long road ahead.

Main observations on this one:

Had an off day against a pretty decent midfield
Lazy at the start, you can't give up big leads to OK sides
Reminded me of the week after we thrashed St Kilda - it never helps having a walkover like we did in Rd 1
Couple of guys who don't yet have the right composure for this level - O'Rourke, Anderson (and yes I love Jed, but it's true)
Astounding decision making by umpires - if you're going to pay the most tiggy-touchwood things like the Puopolo "throw", then why would you ignore the continual holding off the ball and scragging in the ruck contests? I think the only reason McEvoy went into defence was to stop him being climbed all over
Rough gone missing, not the first time, won't be the last
Birchall will be better for the run
For all the claims of our enormous depth, Mitchell out is still enormous for this side
Every time I see James Hird on the TV it makes me feel ill

I couldn't give a stuff about all the off field rubbish. Essendon showed up today hawthorn didn't, the bombers showed a lot of fight and the hawks were just happy to sit back and think it would come to them.

Most disappointing thing is it seems a lot of the players are believing their own press and getting ahead of themselves. Almost happy they've copped this reality check in a cruel fashion, They'll be breathing fire next week.

For mine lake was our best by far, durea quite good, and just about everyone else can take a cold shower

Solid effort in the second half, compared to the first, but we still wasted the pill far too much going forward.

McEvoy at fullback was a bit of a stretch, but he did quite well.

Rioli lit us up numerous times, and Hill was carving up the wing late in the last.

A few more seconds and we escape with a win despite playing below par for a fair slab of the match.

What's the news on Frawley?
