Autopsy Essendon v Hawthorn

The arrogance levels here are extraordinary.

Again, your team played well yesterday but Essendon also had some vital players out, Dempsey, Myers and Hocking..

Give the cheating thing a rest, thanks. Even if the cheating issue hypothetically occurred I doubt the players wanted anything to do with it. Let it go, focus on the football, thanks.
The arrogance levels here are fine.

We played like crap yesterday, but still nearly pinched it.

As for the cheating comments, well they're going to continue for a very long time, so if you don't like them I'd suggest that you either learn to live with them(Hawthorn board won't be the only place you read them), or return to the sanctuary of the Essendon board.

We'll focus on whatever the F*** we want.

Typical f*****g Essendon carrying on after the game. Kevin Sheedy twirling the scarf around. Supporters doing the same. Get f****d c***s.

It shows how much beating us means to them. I am glad to support a club who is so celebrated against when beaten.

It shows how much they rate and respect you.

Hawks. Lick your wounds from yesterday.
It's time to move onto the doggies. A little more desperation from the Hawks in tight early on in the game and they wouldn't have had their way.

If you listen to Hirds presser..he said they wanted to do to Hawthorn what Sydney did to Port...and they did that. Hawks had no space in tight..they swarmed at us in tight..in the first half...However they can't sustain that for a full game and we got away in the third...
Giving up a 16point lead with a few minutes to go..is where the real questions about the Hawks should be asked...that's just schoolboy mistakes there...and mucking around thinking the game was won...that's how we almost lost the prelim last year...if you look at our last 4 games..2 x 2 have been very similar...

Go back and enjoy your "High" in the scum club..

Hypothetically speaking. If an umpire does a crap bounce in the centre of the ground, and calls it back to re-bounce (taking approximately 3 seconds), should that 3 seconds come off the clock, or should the clock go back to where it was prior to the crap bounce?

Note that I'm not asking what the rule IS, but what it SHOULD be..

It was a poor game by our standards and usually I'd forgive that if it was against anyone else but bloody Essendon.

I'd imagine Dermie, Dipper, Lethal and anyone else from that 84-85 era would have been absolutely spewing.

The part that shat me off the most was after the siren and half our boys were smiling and acting all chummy to the bombers players.
Colleague at work who's a neutral mentioned the same thing, said it almost looked like they thought "oh well, we pretty much won"
FMD.
Hoping Clarko gives those players an almighty rocket!

Wasn't sitting far away from Dipper in the stands ... he was shaking his head during that second quarter.

I asked one of my boys (aged 9) if he knew who that man was ... "Dad that's Dipper!" -- proud Ram-Dad moment. ;)

Even watching Lewis and Hodge share a smirk between themselves at the end gave me the shits.

The annoying thing to come from all of this is we have to live with the fact we were beaten by Essendon. I can handle a loss at any time, but not to those cheating bastards. Not only did we let ourselves down yesterday, we let football down, and we should be ashamed. If ever there was a game we should have been up for, it was this one, and we played as if we just didn't care. Many more efforts like yesterday and we will be lucky to make the top 8. It is look in the mirror time for several of our players, what was served up yesterday was simply undeserving of the Hawthorn jumper.

That's the downside of the draft system. Players used to grow up playing in the area, then progressing through the U19s and ressies, by the time they reached league they were born and bred club players. The club was their life and opposition players were rarely mates. Now these guys grow up as mates, and get distributed amongst 18 clubs. They were mates before any affiliation to their club, so we see losing players more happy to see their mates than despondent because of a loss. It irks me too, but whatcha gonna do?

Again you are assuming they are not injured.

You also don't play injured players.

Glad you have assured me they both will play next week " Clarko has said he hopes they will be" but your assurance has clinched it for me.

Can't you see what he is saying, Taz. He knows more than Clarko, simple as that.

Must be the first time you have seen us play for a long, long time. We definitely didn't play well. Then again, maybe by your standards, we did.

Actually a very truthful post. You guys are a level above the rest in the comp, we had a few things go our way this week and took the advantage. Still have some ways to go before we can call ourselves your equals though.

And the amount of gloating Hawthorn fans have inflicted on Essendon, it's fair to say that I have copped my rightful whack back :)

You just deal with it and move on.

You don't know what you think arrogance means.

You think it means someone thinks they're better than they actually are. In this context you have not used it correctly. What was said isn't arrogant in that context, because what you were replying to doesn't in anyway seek to support the premise that hawthorn was better than essendon*. Rather the basic thesis was Your club has singlehandedly ruined a sport. That is not arrogance, in the way you think the word is used.

The hilarious thing is this: You have used "arrogance" exactly as it should be used, and it is a compliment. Yes, the post arrogates a position. That is, it makes a stance and backs it up to show it is a correct stance.

I hope this edifies you, because supporting essendon* I can only imagine the level of your education must be dreadful. However, one day when you gain a little more education, and your team is wiped from the history records, you may look for another team to support. We are always looking for those willing to better themselves.

This was reminiscent of the 2009 - 2012 lost games against Geelong. We had the upper hand in clearances but just 'bombed it in' to the forward line... Only to be out-marked again and again..!

The brightside is: atleast we're not Geelong now!! Haha!

The Mark Thompson influence was uncanny. They Geelonged us, and I expect a long run of these games to follow.
