We have a VFL womens team

The club did make a pitch and presentation for an AFLW license but got rejected think the club has to wait for the next opportunity to arise.

Probably for the best.

The Dons need to prove they can go an extended period without breaking the rules with one team, before trying to manage two imo.

“Cherry on top type” - laughable

That’s exactly what he is. Hard to be clutch if the team never provides clutch moments. He’s isn’t high production averaging over 20 touches only 6 of 18 years. He’s clearly class but you don’t build a team around him.

When you talk generally about a players it’s about the bulk of their career. Why don’t you post the week after when he had 14 touches. Hawthorns greatness was because you had a stack players lifting the bulk and players had freedom to play their roles. Essendon don’t have that which is why he’d be little more than the 14 touch game most weeks.

At his peak Burgoyne is better than every single player on Essendons list.

Not one current Essendon player will have a career that comes anywhere close to Burgoyne.

Burgoyne is a superstar and he was probably better at Port than he has been at Hawthorn.

The only thing he doesn’t do is average 30. So what? I’ll take the guy that does it both ways, is as hard as a cats head, is as clutch as anyone, and gets called silk to boot. Burgoyne is a superstar.

You act like being a icing on cake is an insult and that I’m saying Essendon have better players than him. Teams don’t win premierships without icing. Teams don’t get to finals without guys that crash in every week and get 30 and ten clearances. We don’t have the foundations that utilise his skill set. He’d be next to useless for us.

Ryder was open to a trade back to essendon

Then he visited Tullamarine and quickly changed his.mind.

Ryder’s interview/comments didn’t pull any punches in relation to efc.
Of course the club through Watson and the like in the media will dismiss the comments but it doesn’t do a lot for a club needing to restore its credibility and reputation.

Doesnt look too good.

31: Hooker
30: Bellchambers
29: Hurley, Brown, McKernan

winding down.

Heppell, Shiel, Stringer will be expected to carry the load but might not be good enough nor have enough talent around them.

Daniher may not be around much longer.

another 15 years without winning a final? The drug cheating saga has proven hard to recover from. Even with the advantage of elite draft picks over the course

So what happened with Papley and Martin etc at Carlton?

I reckon it would have been pretty awkward for Paddy at EFC given he well and truly burnt his bridges on the way out. The fact that he was even considering Essendon was actually quite humorous. Obviously he'd gotten over the risk the drugs scandal had posed to "his unborn babies". Throw a few dollars at it and it's all good man! Many know the real reasons why he left and there are still plenty at the club who would not have wanted him back so at the end of the day it really never was an option for him. Is he still with his Mrs..?
