Ever left a game early and regretted it?

Final game of 2006 against Hawthorn. 10 goals down against a mediocre Hawks outfit midway through the last 1/4 and a Cats fan in front of me screaming obscenities at our players all day. One of many frustrating performances that year and couldn't maintain my sanity by remaining in attendance.

Only other time was 1998 or 99 against Sydney at KP. 15 goals to 1 in the first half, including 8 from Plugger. Had a 30th in Melbourne that night and decided it wasn't worth sticking around. Switched on the radio 30 mins later in the car to hear we'd kicked 7 unanswered goals, although we still lost by around 30-odd.

Wonder if all the Swans fans around me who left tonight will regret their choice. Many people have reasons for leaving early but as I said to my friend tonight when she wanted to leave early. "Nope you always stay till the end".

Tonight was why. Now to get up in 4 hours for work.

The SCG is a horror if your relying on public transport and dont fancy the walk back to central, maybe that's why some people try to get in front of the Crowd?

Only ever left one game early

Was against Freo and we were up by 60-70 in the third quarter and I was crook as a dog so buggered off back to the hotel to sleep

No regrets

Not if you're getting absolutely smashed...!!
Anyway, well done on the result! Was just so awesome to see!

In the thread "Is it acceptable to leave a game early?", there is one terrific post by some poor long-suffering Melbourne supporter detailing how by Round 23, he finally couldn't hack it any more and left halfway through something like the twelfth ten-plus-goal drubbing that year... there can be a lot of suffering in staying forever!

Not sure if you understand the thread mate.

I gave my members tickets to my sister and her family for the Essendon game last night and found out this morning they left when the Swans were down by 19. They're dead to me.
lots of people were leaving, even after they kicked another goal people were still leaving.

I think some of the Essendon players may have even left :(

If we're losing I always leave about 1 - 2 minutes early to avoid getting trapped behind thousands of people. Only twice I've left matches before 3 quarter time, v Hawks in 2011 and v. Saints in 2012.

I left a BigBash T20 cricket game early once. Was raining on and off and when I looked at the radar it seems one last band of shower was coming through, so when it hit we took off thinking there's no chance they'll get back out there.

About 30 mins later they were back out there in a restricted game and Sean Marsh and Gibbs went nuts and we won off the last ball.

Was devo!

Left Essendon vs Melbourne this year about 6 minutes into the last quarter upon realising we weren't going to double our score to win. We lost. No regrets.

I leave at the 10 minute mark of the last for HaA games, rush to the car and put the radio on, **** sitting in that traffic.

So when it's a close game or you're winning, you miss the best part? Why bother going?
