Agreed all round, or we will be in the championship in two years. I read an article on Goal.com (I know :p) that the Qatar royal family had shortlisted our club as one of the three they would like to buy. No thanks to that, Pyrrhic victory that would be.

I know its goal, but f**k it, I don't care I want this to be true.

I always thought I could see Everton make top for again with the squad and resources we have had due to picking up great players, having a great culture and excellent manager. If you don't have money you can't compete in Europe. That even goes for Europa league now. The teams that will finish in the top 6 this season are United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and City. What do they all have in common? Spending. If this Qatar Royal Family actually exists and does want to buy the club I will be happy as a pig in shit. Money doesn't necessarily mean you will win a title it just gives you a better chance than operating on a shoestring budget.

We can't rely on Moyes to keep finding gems like Jagielka and Baines anymore, especially when the $3.5-$4m to buy them due to the inflated transfer market is just more than we can muster.

Oh shit... Is there a worse final third team in the competition at the moment? Might find one in the championship, just maybe.

No more sweeping things under the carpet. Time is up for Moyes.
Has Yak been banging his missus or something. For him not to get a minute on the field tonight is a disgrace. Billy still cant get a run! flipping sort it out!!!!!!

Holy shit that was a nervous 90 minutes!!!

Pretty much got dominated for the whole game apart from two good goals, the second reiterating the fact that Bainsey is the best left back in the league.

Then from then on, it was shaky, but just good enough, defence that won us the game. The ref was pretty horrendous, Anichebe dreadfully unlucky to be sent off.

The reaction from the players at the final whistle was sensational though, and maybe now they can build on this win.

Pretty poor performance with a great result. They had us under the kosh from the 30min mark til the 95th minute.

You must admit that it was a good performance in a attacking sense. Baines goal was pure class and if you had 11 men for the whole game the result would of been a little bit more comfortable. Anichebe looked decent when not being sent off and Saha was brilliant when he came on. Considering thats your main weakness id say it was a big step forward

Didn't get to see the game (was very tired from being away for the last two days), but was a nice surprise to wake up to this morning :D

Seems like we were a tad lucky to win it at the end, but we need to kick on now and beat Birmingham and West Ham. Have received points against Manu, City, Chelsea and Tottenham this season. Shame we have been so poor against average sides.

Could be a season changing win that one. Scored early, and then just sat back against a team that has a lot of attacking options. Probably lucky to have held the win, but we deserve the luck finally. Considering we still have Pienaar and Arteta to come back with have a bit of improvement still. Howard was huge and I thought Distin, Jags, Cahill and Felini were awesome.

A great team effort and to top it off it was amazing to see the players show raw emotion after the win. It is the reason why I love our club.

Exactly. Sums up why I support Everton and not a club like the soulless entity we played today.

Will happily take that win.:thumbsu:

The problem with Everton has been scoring. The facts are we seem to play better against the better teams than when we do the sides we are expected to win against in recent times. We beat Liverpool and now Man City while picking up a point against Spurs, Man United and Chelsea.

Everton were always going to sit back after going 2-0 up. I guess the positive is the win came without Arteta and Piennar. Hopefully the small price Yak will fetch from Blackburn in January can be used towards another striker.

While Osman did ok tonight it summed up Billy has no future at the club. Not only did Billy have an ideal chance with Arteta and Piennar out, Moyes was prepared to put Osman straight into the starting 11 despite coming off a medium length of time out injured.

I rate Billy. Have to start him on the left against Birmingham, at the very least give the poor kid some confidence!

He has looked really good the last few times he has come on late. Seems hungry. I just keep thinking back to his awesome goals last season. Could really be a good offensive cog, needs to take some lessons from Baines.

What do people here think we should do in relation to our striker problems? Saha and/or Yakubu to go? Who to target in January?

Moyes continues to lose the plot. He should be thanked for his service and sacked immediately.

I'm going to continue to defend him because IMO he has the credits in the bank. Added on to this we spent probably the least in the last window, no matter how good the ideal XI is, we can't always rely on them to be fit unfortunately and it is the squad depth that has really let us down.

Said it again and again and again, while the likes of Hibbert and Osman continue to be included in the squad be will not be top 4/able to get back in Europe. They are solid players for lower teams but not a team in the top 6 but with current circumstances they are all we can afford/no one would be willing to pay any money to take them.

Selling Vaughan is disappointing for sure but he obviously has no other way of getting cash in for transfers/loans.
